How to style the supper fish menu?[solved]

I am trying to restyle the menu from a blue to the same color as the rest of the site and red when hovered over. I have most of it figured out, but when the main menu is selected then move the mouse down to a subitem, the main menu item turns light blue. What css selector am I missing?

Took a while, in the end I just copied the supper fish css file into my theme file and edited it line by line.
