Code block and Tag cloud stopped working or changed behavior

I put customizations directly into the code block file to enable slideshowbox among other things but it stopped working recently. I dont remember doing anything different in gallery3. In fact, restoring a backup of the site does not restore the functionality. Tag cloud also is not working. Instead of the beautiful revolving images, I get the text only "View whole cloud". I think the problems are related. I used pagespeed but I disabled it and the functionality has not returned.

Any ideas?
