Import exif Keywords as Tags

I made a patch for the file exif/helpers/exif.php to import exif "keywords" field as tags of the photo. I hope this feature will be added in a future release of the exif module

Did you search the tracker and add a feature request? It might get lost in the forums as some of the devs don't search here they look through the tracker.

Having said that, your instance of Gallery didn't already do this? When you upload photos with keywords, they weren't being added as tags?
Maybe I've misunderstood, but the only field that didn't import for me was titles. (As mentioned at http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gallery/ticket/608 )

I have a sample image made with Photoshop and I had to import the tags as for many images in the future. Unfortunately exif plugin didn't work for me, so I noticed the tags are in the IPTC field "keywords" as a string. It was easy to take that string and import the tags.
I saw in exif.php the code to import the "caption" fiel as Description of the photo, but non the code for Keywords. Am I missing it?
