Can one link from custom fields to an exterior URL?

Using Gallery 2.X. I'd like for users to be able to provide a link to their personal web site to show higher quality images, if desired. Can this be done from within custom fields? If not, is there another approach? I looked at Link Items, but that doesn't seem geared for this task.
