Cannot get ffmpeg or imagemagick to work

I found a thread about adding "/usr/bin/" to the "php_admin_value open_basedir" option for my gallery site. However, when I do this I cannot open the movies or graphics settings page to see if it detected them. It just shows a blank page. I am running on a VPS and using zPanel to administer my sites, dbs, etc. But I do have full CLI via SSH so I can try things to fix it.
