I decided to implement square thumbnails but little did I realise the chaos this would cause. The image rebuild got my account suspended by Inmotionhosting for consuming, they said, 385% of available server resources. Their process suspension seems to have corrupted the thumbnails and re-size images for a few albums. Pity I can't go to that album and rebuild those images.

I've recreated the album on my own server and the rebuild does utilise a lot of resource. I guess at the current rate it will take at least 24 hours to rebuild 8000+ images.

Why can't you?

I'll always look for an easy way to solve a problem.
There isn't an admin option, as far as I'm aware, to rebuild images/thumbnails for an individual album. It's either force a complete re-build or else download the originals and manipulate them on the PC.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding?
If you're using the rebuild_items module, just go to the album you want to rebuild and click the rebuild items link.

It's an excellent module that @floridave developed and has been updating and enhancing for a while now.

There are a lot of modules; good to keep an eye on the modules page: http://codex.galleryproject.org/Category:Gallery_3:Modules

One more note, if you've already marked all thumbs "dirty" through some other means, the maintenance task will still have to rebuild them (to make them "clean" again), but this module may help in the future to just rebuild a specific album.
