Database created but installer says it can't be found?

I'm trying to install Gallery for the first time on my website. I've only managed the first couple of steps (uploaded the files, created the "var" folder, and via my webhost login created a new database for the gallery. I can see that the database is listed, however, when I run the installer it returns the error: "We were able to connect to your MySQL server, yay! But the database name you gave us doesn't exist and we don't have permissions to create it for you. Please create the database manually, then go back and try again." Any suggestions on what could be wrong? |

I suspect that one of the peices of info you provided is not correct or the user for the DB does not have permissons to add tables etc.

Your host should be able to assist.
