Have Gallery 1.0. Don't recall Admin password. Directions in FAQ aren't working for me.

Am unable to recall or reset my G1 password. Read FAQ, but unable to get it to work. Unable to place resetadmin file into server (extension is always added which I can change, but not remove). I don't seem to be able to get any info (or even find) the configuration wizard. Need some help, please.
