[SOLVED] language set for individual users

I have been running gallery on a ukhost4u server since sept 2010. I set up two French users and set the language for them to francais. All has been well until a couple of weeks ago, when the French users reported that their interface has changed to English.

I have raised this with ukhost4u support who suggest I enquire here.

I have checked the users concerned and they present in English under Firefox. Not exactly sure which browser the French users are on but I assume it is late version IE.

My questions: what has changed, how can I fix it?

the problem is now resolved as ukhost have now reconfigured their PHP with gettext.
