Gallery Setup Step 4: locale_alias missing, prevents install

Hi. I'm trying to install Gallery. My server is run by an ISP, and I have little or no knowledge about how to configure it myself, much less permission to do so.

I am stopped at Step 4, with every locale_alias listed as missing. Gallery will not let me proceed with the installation (or configuration) until the error is fixed. I do not know how to fix the error. I have it set to Mode 1, and have only checked English in the checkboxes.

Hmm, this is a known issue with 1.4 and BSD. It's fixed in the latest code, I believe (go Jens!) so you should update to that.

I have 1.4.2 and having this same problem on FBSD 4.9.
I tried installing gallery.1.4.4-cvs-b26 and got other errors. Should I just try Gallery 2.

Hi Palumbo,

The Bug was fixed in 1.4.3.

What are your problems with 1.4.4

I uncompressed the file, copied it to /usr/local/www/data/gallery/
then I went to http://<domain>/gallery/setup/index.php I got some PHP errors.
It may have been because I deleted the old .httpaccess file and forgot to put it back. I do not know enough about PHP to remember so I just reverted to the first version.
