How to find which database and can an old gallery be saved? Seriously confused.

I have few galleries that were either messed up because they had been backed up from an old server and I probably didn't set things right, or the configuration file got messed up (ie I changed it and couldn't get it to go back the way it was/couldn't find the original - yes I know better now this was years ago). Some of these are gallery 1, some gallery 2. At the time I became frustrated and gave up, which is unfortunate because I don't remember exactly what I had done. There are a few things I am trying to do. Ultimately I want to move them to my new webserver, but I also need to fix them. So 1. is it possible to fix an installation when I have all the files/database, but not the config file and 2. how do I find out what database an old gallery uses? I'm not sure some of them may actually be easier to design a newer gallery and download/upload or import the photos rather than messing with it too much (if I can at least get it running so I can see what photos are in what galleries, etc), but I have no clue which galleries are connected to which users and which databases because some had been installed via fantastico (or it could have been softalicious, like I said it's been years) and have generic _gllr1 etc as the names. I know there is a file somewhere in the directory that should tell but I don't know where to look. Then my final problem, which I'm not sure this is the place to ask, but I have to figure out how to change a database name as my new webserver has completely different galleries installed in the defaults (_gllr1 etc). I know these are huge issues, but if someone could point me in the right direction I would be greatful. I wasn't sure if this was something I should post to each forum for gallery 1 & 2 or all together here. I can give you the links, but only a few will help because I replaced the index file so that it just says I'm fixing it and people don't see the errors. But here are the others: http://207.45.187.2/~jfiles/luckygirlgallery/ - this one I have no clue http://207.45.187.2/~jfiles/danpayne/gallery/ - I think these are not working bc of older php and statements needed replaced? http://207.45.187.2/~jfiles/gatecongallery/ - this one the index was changed, so I'm not sure if it's helpful ANY help would be appreciated. I'm getting to the point I'm ready to just scrap everything and find the album folders **and before anyone asks, I'm using links from the IP (which I know isn't the best) simply because I already changed the DNS of the actual domain to my new server, so the links don't work that way, which I didn't think about when I did it, but if I change it back now part of my site will go down from the new server that is no longer on the old server.** |

Should be if you know the details. G3 right?
Not sure I understand. You mean you have a DB but don't know what install it goes with?
Your post is a bit long and rambing, perhaps we can focus on one issue at a time to lessen the confusion.
Not sure about the G1 install you might try a migration to G2 or G3 with those depreciated functions. Not sure never used the G1 import module.

You can't tell this by looking at the install folder via ftp?
For G2, website > gallery directory > config.php
For G1, I don't know, but look around and you'll probably find it.
