Yes…
I too I’m interested in seeing if anyone has got it integrated into Mambo?
well maybe not a total integration maybe just working inside of Mambo?
I got it inside of Mambo but using iFrame method which sort of
looks weird, but seems to work.
Now I don’t really need to have user logins in both program as of now
just a bit more integrated would be nice :)

Oops sorry it took me awhile to get back to this
There are 2 options in doing this with iframe.

1.
use Mambo’s “Typed Content

wrapper is fine but it only iframes apps. im looking for a real component that uses the same database like mambo so the user has only to register/login one time and not for every application (mambo, gallery) separately.

its done for phpwebsite, nuke and yoops. can somebody do it for mambo please :(

where can i find a tutorial about the login-procedure or the embedding in other apps of gallery?http://www.txraves.org/code/dox/embedding_gallery.php is out of date

This would be great if someone integrates this gallery into Mambo 4.5 completely. If you do, let us all know on http://forum.mamboserver.com

We have used Gallery on our other PHP websites and love it features.

We are in the process of changing all of our sites over to Mambo and would also like to see this program featured there.

PLEASE!!!!

For anyone interested, there is a new project called MamBridge that's being developed. As described, MamBridge will allow third party applications like Gallery to interface with Mambo without having to alter the core program files. It's being developed as a Mambo component. This project is now officially registered at MOSForge.

More information can be found at the official Mambo OS site, located here:

http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=10253&highlight=mambridge
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=2&start=100

The project leader, mmx, has already been in contact with teams representing other applications, including Simple Machines (formerly YABBSE).

The time has come for a software bridge. Such a bridge would go a LONG way in overcoming the everpresent problem of integrating standalone applications. I think it would be WONDERFUL if anyone representing this package would contact him. There is much advantage to be gained by ALL to develop such a solution.

Regards,
Brat.

I have downloaded a comp_gallery from a site that claimes to be a Mambo comp install to integrate Gallery to Mambo Open Source 4.5

The front page of this site says the latest version is compatible with MamboCMS.

MamboCMS and Mambo Open source are two different products.

So the questions are.
Does the latest version of Gallery work with Mambo Open Source or MamboCMS

If it is Mambo Open Source, where does one get help doing that????

My understanding now is that it is for Mambo OS. Over at the mamboserver.com forum a very helpful post on installing and using Gallery will mambo os 4.5 is there:
http://forum.mamboserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=10852

The user who posted the info (alias: ppofandt) also lists a url that has a demo of Gallery and Mambo OS together - it is a wonderful thing!

Hi all...

I installed gallery (1.43 RC3) on my Mambo (4.5) site and everything seemed to work fine including integration at the database level as to which level of Mambo authority equals Gallery admin.

Everything seems to be working fine except for all functions inside an album. When you are in an album and select admin functions from the drop down list (add photo, custom fields, etc...) You get a popup window with nothing in it?

I found a posting mentioning 1.43-cvs-b32 but unfortunately I didn't speak the language to follow all the content. So I searched the CVS and sure enough found entries that looked like they were meant to resolve this issue. So I tried copying the version of any program that references this down to the site. Eventually I figured out that the fixes were already in 1.43 RC3 DOH!!!

Soo.... It's getting too late and I must sleep so I thought I would see if anyone else has the solution to my problem?

Okay, when I logon to gallery as admin, and go to manage the users (this is directly in gallery, not in mambo), I see that the only users that it lists are me (symantix), and the admin.

I have several more users in my mambo database, including several that were created after gallery was installed. Yet when I go to my database control panel, I see no additional database, and no extra tables in the mambo db for gallery to use separately.

So where is gallery pullling this user list from? And why isn't it pulling all of the users from the mambo user table?

Thanks for the quick response, h0bbel. Yes, I read the howto file, and I've done everything that it listed. It also did not include any info pertaining to the question that I'm asking.

I'm get a blank screen popup when I go to add an image file or do just about anything administrative to the gallery through mambo. It all works fine when I access the gallery directly, as long as I login using a member name that's listed in gallery. But I can't do anything through mambo except view images, even if I log in with a user with the same name as a user that I've placed into the gallery user list manually.

The only time that I got the add image function to work in mambo was when I had already added images to a category in gallery directly. If I login to mambo with the user that has the same name as the user that I created manually in gallery, the same user that I used to upload the images directly in gallery, then as long as I go to that same category through mambo, I can upload files with mambo...but again, only in that category. Any category in which I haven't already upload files directly in gallery without mambo, I can't do anything with any user in mambo. I can create categories in mambo, but I still can't upload images to those categories in mambo until I've done so directly in gallery at least once.

That's why I was asking about the user table. I thought that might be a good first step in figuring out what was causing this problem.

You won't see the Mambo users if you go directly to Gallery, but once you are in Gallery as the component, you'll see all the users. Make sure you install component from xml

ac, I don't see any way to look at the user list in gallery as a component. If I log in as admin in mambo, it gives me the same options as any user who has privileges in the gallery, which doesn't include managing users, which is the option I used to view the gallery users as admin when using gallery directly. (?)

However, I just discovered that if I login as admin in the mambo frontend, I can upload files to any category. So this must be a permissions issue. But I have the gallery component set to allow any user with author privileges or above to add images, but my users that are authors or above can't add images like they should be able to. Even my own main user profile, which is a super administrator, though with a different name besides the "admin" profile, cannot add images, unless, like I said, I've added images using gallery directly with the user profile that I created in gallery of the same name. I could understand if they couldn't add images to categories that they didn't create, but they can't even add images to categories that they DID create.

Well the reason that your supper admin acount can add pics is b/c it is has the correct user group. You need to set the minimum user group that can access gallery in your mambo admin area under the Gallery component. Then make sure that the users that can add pics are in that level or above in the mambo users admin.

I've already done that. Thanks for trying though. ;)

Anyone who has access privileges can add photos through mambo in a particular gallery once they have added a photos to that gallery one time directly in gallery, not using mambo. Unless they do this, they can't do any admin functions except add a category. Well, it's not that they can't, but it's that the screen that pulls up for them to do it is blank.

another thing check your permisions in gallery when loged in to mambo. You have to give people permison to a album from this side b/c the user db does not cross over b/c one is a flat file and the mambo is a sql db call out.

Okay, everything seems to work well, except the "form" tab in the "add photos" popup. When I add a file and tell it to upload, the popup window gives me this error twice:

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/tester/public_html/beta/gallery/classes/database/mysql/Database.php on line 37

Again, this only happens in the form tab, and only in mambo. The form tab works fine directly in gallery.

I was able to get this working almost immediately at my beta site, thanks for a well integrated component. One of my test users was able to upload pictures to the gallery via his own username, excellent!

Does anyone know how to get the larger pictures to open in a new window? This is really annoying when it stretches out the screen and makes the site look unprofessional. I searched these forums pretty closely on the pop-up window thing and have yet to find a good answer. Anyone have a solution?

Thanks,
Graham
