Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me out please. My website was hacked and shutdown by my host. I have managed to backup the Gallery 2 database and all the photos but the config files were all lost. I have re-installed gallery, restored the database after the install and uploaded some test pictures to their original location but all the site shows are default thumbnails and not the image thumbnails. I am not skilled in any php, cgi sql etc and the only difference that I can think of is as follows;

On both the original site and the restored version gallery was installed to public_html/mygallery but on the original the web links were shown as http://www.website.com/mygallery/v/ then the content here, however on the new site the "v" is missing. Could anyone suggest if I am wasting my time or offer advice on how I may restore my gallery?

I would be very grateful.

Best regards, Bub.

mygallery/v suggests you had the rewrite module active.

to restore your gallery follow the same instructions as FAQ: How can I move my Gallery installation from one server to another?

Thank you for the advice suprsidr, it put me on the right track. My problem was twofold;
1) I don't have command line access to the server and can only install Gallery via a supplied script.
2) I restored the database before the script (install) was run.

What finally fixed it was as follows (just for anyone else in my situation);

1) Installed Gallery via the hosts script and did a basic config.
2) Checked that I could create a photo gallery and upload a photo to ensure correct operation.
3) Went in to plugins and enabled/configured the "rewite url" and "permalinks" modules.
4) Uploaded all my photos via FTP to their original locations (ensure that the paths and filenames are exactly as they were.
5) Created a new database from the backup I had.
6) Edited config.php to point to the new database with the relevant username and password.
7) Ran the "Build all thumbnails/resizes" from the Maintenance link.
8) B I N G O ! ! ! It worked. Thanks suprsidr!!!!! :)
9) Went and had beer, and relaxed while downloading new site and database backups (yes I have learnt my lesson now) :)

Regards, Bub.
