Vanishing file selection dialogue

When I Add photos -> Select photos, a file selection dialogue comes up, but then vanishes after about 15 seconds. If I make a selection within that time, it gets uploaded but, regardless, subsequent clicks on Select photos have no effect. Has anyone else seen this? No search seems to come up with anything.
