I just upgraded to version 3.0.4 and tried to use every available theme but no one does work anyway. One half of them isn't available anyway (dead links) and the others doesn't work. Just not anyone! On the one hand nothing will be displayed, on the other hand not any feature works. Even not the login! I tried in FF13 and IE7, no way.

Is the gallery dead? Did blogs, fb & co killed gallery? For me it looks like this.

I'm very unsatisfied with the new version. Gallery2 (without security issues) was much better than gallery3.

Did you update your themes as well?

Got some specific links that we can fix? Perhaps some themes don't work with the most recent version of G3 but I have updated a few where community members have not.
So we need from you the names of the half of the themes that have dead links and the others that don't work. On my count that would be close to 10 links that you should show.

We are not forcing you use G3. G2 is still viable and has had recent security updates.

Complaining and not offering help with specifics is not helpful to the community at all.

Ok, you got me, I went through http://codex.gallery2.org/Category:Gallery_3:Themes.
The first one is the first with broken link to github. Others also have broken links to previews etc. Some are discontinued.
It'll took too much time for me to reconstruct this now.

I thought it would be easier to "install" a theme - as it always is described at the end of the theme presentation.

And that it only works with specific manipulations. This is not very comfortable.

The other way round: tell me, which theme you definitely know that'll work with version 3.0.4. I'll try and give you feedback. Maybe it is a local fault which I haven't seen until now.

I just tried the greydragon-theme. The "test" befor activating brings the typical white page and the log brings:

Hi,

Ok, I made a fault - I had 3.0 (Santa Fe). Now I started new from the scratch with 3.0.4 (Ricochet). Sorry!

Now I've a new problem: What should be the general permissions? For the var and all subdirs it should be 777, right?
And for modules or themes? I cannot load any new module or theme now ...

I remember the same issue from gallery2.

Ok, some times and new setups later everything is working now!

I don't know what happend but after 3 time gallery new installation it seems to be good.

And hopefully for a long time ...
