Adding theme

Sorry to be a new user with what is probably a simple question, but how do you load a theme? I am using Mac OS 10.7.4 and the directions "Simply unpack/unzip into your themes directory and go to Admin > Appearance > Theme Choice to select the new theme." do not work for me. I am not able to find a Themes directory. Are these themes only for Windows users? Thanks for your help.

You extract the zip file to your computer and place them on the servers gallery/themes directory.
