This module just does the ratings piece. We're awaiting some one to pick up the ball and run with development of the 'display/search/etc' (sub)module that will use the ratings data.
For now, this module's scope is 'ratings only'

Hi all,
is anyone working on a (sub)module so we can get these rated photos sorted in a dynamic album that will display the "highest rated" photos? This was a real popular module in G2. Thanks.

Me again, been a while but I am about to download the latest version. I'm really enjoying the functionality, so thanks again.
If anyone wants to do the Highest Rated functionality, I'd be very interested in testing it etc... unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to build it myself. I loved this feature in G2.

Is there a quick way that I could add the voting block on the main album page? I would like users to be able to vote on photos directly in the album rather than needing to click into each individual picture.

You mean under each photo from the main page? - I'll have to look, but unfortunately, my time is short right now.

Yes, exactly. I have to imagine it should be somewhat straightforward since it would effectively just be adding to the info block. Been a while since I've dealt with the code though.

I think the only potential issue is the way the graphics are handled via the thirdparty 'ratings' scripts. They are not scalable in size, and thus, smaller thumbnail'd sites would look a bit strange with this 'big' ratings block under them.
Other than that, I'd imagine it'd be pretty simple to implement, as it's just an 'under_thumb' block addition to the ratings_theme.php
(but initially thinking, it would probably require some view and script changes as vars and such would probably be affected with the diff block inclusion)
Perhaps if more folks are interested I could dedicate some time. But personally, I think it would clutter up the album page too much, and am not real interested in doing it at the moment. Sorry.
Anyone can feel free to give 'er a shot though!

Understand what you're saying about the block given your description of the way the third party scripts handle it. Maybe just displaying the current overall rating and votes underneath each photo? That shouldn't really cause any funky variable issues, right? Trying to make it easy for users to tell from the album what the higher rated photos currently are without physically clicking into each one.

Anyone up for at least displaying a view only version under the photos in the album? Like the way this module works, but frustrating to have to go into each photo individually to see votes/ratings

I don't think it is a 'problem' but a feature that nobody has come forward to contribute back to the community.
You should, "Please make sure your configuration is correct" - meaning that your database is not accessible by the script. Check with your hosting provider for these details, once you have them, we can go from there.

The layout for the ratings is too large to fit without making things terrible looking. I've tried to accomplish this, but the third party code we're using is not flexible enough to adjust accordingly. Someone with more skills than I have can step up and try a jab at it, but I'm not that skilled person.

How is the average score calculated? I saw a link to Bayesian averages, so I am thinking it is some variation on that.
By way of example, if I have an item with 6 votes: 70, 70, 20, 40, 80, 10
How does that come out to an "average" score of 4.5 out of 5 stars (what is shown for the item)?
Unfortunately, I didn't bother to really go through the code to see how the calculations were performed.
The module was thrown together to provide a starting block for some folks who needed something quickly. It was never 'adopted' if you will, into a full fledged module, and thus makes things difficult to change/modify/etc.

In case anyone reading this ever has the same issue I do, it turns out that the item ID is the number next to "rate" in the ratables tables, which then ties to the rateable_id field in the ratings table. That should get you where you need to be if you're looking at the raw data on the ratings.
Also...If you ever have specific technical questions about the core code (not specific to the gallery module, but the actual core code that runs the rating), the original author of RabidRatings is incredibly friendly and very helpful.
So for instance...Assume you have a photo of a tree that is Item ID 21. It will display as rate21 in the ratables table. Let's assume that the ratables.id column in this instance shows 13. When you go to the ratings table, you will ACTUALLY be looking for Ratings.Ratable_id 13 in order to see all of the ratings for the photo of your tree that is item 21.

Here's a possible star icon set. Have not tested it..so let me know how it works for you guys. It's the same size and dimensions as the hearts.png.

The transparency is backwards, but I think they'll work if it's reversed (the inside of the stars should be transparent)
I tried reversing it, but the resolution looked choppy afterwards.

RabidRatings couldn't connect to the database. Please make sure your configuration is correct.
What I should do?

The module uses a third party application for the ratings, you can find out more details by visiting the site: http://msteigerwalt.com/widgets/ratings/v1.2/#Demo
Unfortunately, I didn't bother to really go through the code to see how the calculations were performed.
