This module will add an option in the item's 'options' 'edit' menu to allow changing the owner of an item:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:editowner

1) If an 'album' is edited, the module has a checkbox to change the owner of all photos within that album as well

  a) If it's not checked, then -only- the album owner is changed

  b) If it's checked, then the owner for the album and -all- of the album's photos are changed

  c) If the owner selection is not changed, then the album owner (and album photos) are NOT changed

2) For 1b above, note that it will -not- change subalbums within an album - (the photos in the subalbum, it will however change the subalbum owner itself.)

3) If a 'photo' is edited, then there is no checkbox as in item 1 above

  a) If the owner selection is not changed, then the photo owner is NOT changed

Great job!
Want to start a codex page as well? I can give you a hand if you need.
Once there it will show up at gallerymodules.com

Certainly would be nice. I need one for my dupcheck module as well. Let me know what I need to do.

It would be nice, when the entries in the dropdown-list are sorted by name. At a specific point, it's a bit confusing :-D

Thank you, this help me very much. I didn't have enough time to do it myself. I always don't know how I must write a module.

apfelkuchen91: I'm glad I could help you out. It takes a bit to dig in to these modules. I had to get something accomplished for something else, and it has just begun to make a bit of sense to me.

Enjoy!

G'day jnash,

Thanks very much for this plugin. One small improvement... If a Gallery3 user has an empty Full Name, please show their Username in the drop-down list rather than the empty line that's currently shown. So, if the Full Name is non-empty, show it. If the Full Name is empty, show the Username.

Thanks again,
Graham

v6 is up on the codex page which addresses this. Dropdown now shows: Full Name (username)

Thanks for the suggestion!

The current zip file listed on the codex only contain the module.info but nothing else (673 bytes zip file), and thus the module does not work... did i miss something on my side ?

Are there plans for mods for this module to recurse fully into an album tree rather than only 1 level?
I have a 300+ album tree I need to change.

Hmmm, didn't realize that, I'll take a look, but rather busy at the moment.

No hurry now, I spent a good part of an afternoon traversing the tree and changing owners.
The last two albums took half the time, I missed them the first time around and it took a long time to find the unchanged ownership photos in the tree :(
