The odd problem is that the Remote Applet appears to work, even reports success and lists the file name as uploaded, but the image isn't actually in the album. Anyone seen this behavior before?

I can't figure out whether this is a problem with Gallery Remote itself or with the server configuration. I recently changed from PHP 5.2.17 to 5.3.10.

There are no related errors I could find in the Apache logs.

I turned on debug and copied everything as I used the applet and tried to view the image that the applet claimed had been uploaded. See that here.

Thanks for any help, Gallery has been running well on my site for many years and the members are used to the Remote applet, hate to lose it.

Try Uploadify, it works better anyways

You're getting a missing object error, you may be able to fix it w/ this.

Thanks supridr that seems to have helped. Although I used both buttons starting from root album and it didn't report any errors. After though I was able to use the Applet again.

I'll try your Uploadify, the Java Applet has always had permission problems that cause browser alerts.

Wow, just added your Uploadify plugin and it's really nice. Super simple and great user feedback. No problem uploading large "right out of the camera" pictures.

I've removed the Gallery Remote applet in favor of Uploadify and you've got $50 PayPal coming your way for providing such a nice addon.

Thanks,

One question I can't figure out. I would like to make your Uploadify the default tab that comes up instead of the core ItemAddFromBrowser.

Possible?

Wow, thanks!
That's incredibly generous.

That is actually pretty difficult as ItemAddFromBrowser is built into the core module.

I've tried two different approaches:

  • used jQuery to dynamically change any "Add Items" links to point to uploadify
  • hacked the core template to return my specific html w/ uploadify first
