I am regretting to be in a position to reachout for some experienced administrators that deals with managing multiple websites.

I have nine domains that I manage and three use Gallery with an additional one in the making.

I have been on a Unix Platform for 12 years at Verio.com and they changed to services using email and phone messages only which involves a customer service operators and not tech support. You can imagine the rest with little effort.

In September 2011 I used one of the referrals posted on this site. Currently my server has been out since Friday early AM. I have been updated once a day after initiating a request to get some way to move forward. I have been patient and conducted myself in the spirit of understanding. Now it is time for solutions to move on.

I am told a .htaccess issue causing the site to be locked down. I had them delete the domain and server but I have yet to hear any results. I have a support ticket request out now to see when I am gong to get a functioning site.

I decided after two hours of no response to escalated my issue to billing and will not renew after my quarterly payment is exhausted.

Now that you know my dilemma, do you know a Hosting company that deals with technical issues with some integrity. I understand 1000% that tech issues occur but let's face it, some deal with it better than MOST.

I have no problem paying for service but I don't want to pay for something I do not get.

Thank Dave,

I looked at some of the regular folks over at Joomla referrals too. I ended up going with the company that was on 4 out of 5 list including Gallery 3 - DreamHost - I was up and running in 4 hours posting 11 websites with the DNS pointing at the server in less than an hour. Fantastic.

Again, thank you for always putting you best out to us needy gallery folks.

I had the same problem with Verio, and I've been with them on one of my sites since they were Highway.net - 10 or 12 years. In February they shut down my gallery program so it would not add any more photos - and they refused to fix it. I had been complacent about their services, and didn't realize Verio had been left in the dust by advances in technology. They still hadn't upgraded to gallery 3 and they refused to do anything about the problem that prevented gallery 1 from working. If any of you are still on Verio, you should get ready to jump ship.

I used the list that Floridave posted as a starting point. It had lots of good leads but it was a couple of years old so I made a lot of calls, did some research and read reviews. My number one criteria was they needed to have tech support capable of helping me both move my Gallery 1 installation and convert it to Gallery 3.

I ended up going with In Motion Hosting and it was a great decision. Their tech support is great. They have an online chat tech support function that usually responds with a human being instantly. I've rarely had to wait more than a minute before someone would come on line. They don't tell me "we don't support Gallery" like Verio did -- they go to the Gallery forums and we share links while discussing solutions. I would give them an A+ for being Gallery friendly. Best of all, their control panel makes installing software and updates really easy - including Gallery 3 and all its modules and themes.

This has been a really difficult move because I ended up having to redo my gallery of 2200 photos, organized into hundreds of sub-albums, from scratch. I had souped up My Gallery version 1.05 installation with custom fields, and that is probably why the gallery 1 to gallery 3 conversion module didn't work on it. But, having to do the whole thing over from scratch was a blessing in disguise because it caused me to delete some photos, edit captions and rethink the organization. Gallery 3 is such a great product that redoing my gallery was pleasurable. The end result is such an improvement over my old gallery.

Thanks, Gallery guys & In Motion Hosting!

Brenda

It is nice to here that there is some hosting that will help out the customer and promote open source.
