album with per image access control

Does anyone know how I could implement multiple albums, each with their own per image access controls.

I would like all users to be able to view a thumbnail.
However, on some images, I'd like to allow only registered to be able to view the full size image and paid members to view still others, all in the same album.

This would prevent my having to have multiple albums along with each having their own access levels.

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now, can't seem to find anything that does this. Sure would appreciate any thoughts you might have.

This is on a joomla 1.7 site.
