Notification Module tweek

Props to the devs of gallery3! I've got a site running, but would like to change the default behavior of the site in regards to notifications. Is there a published (or unpublished) way to have notifications be enabled by default for a user when s/he creates and album or uploads a photo to an existing album? Currently I've just subscribed to the root of the site, so I get notifications for everything. It works, but I think I'd get better interaction out of the site users if they could be auto-notified on just their own content.

Thoughts? Ideas?
