Exif GPS Data or Exif Data IE 8 Crashes

It seems that I cannot get windows 8 to work with Gallery 3 while I have the Google maps showing in the sidebar. I I remove it from the sidebar, and then use the map feature for album it again continually crashes. This only happens in IE8. I have 2 Galleries using these modules and both are experiencing identical problems.
My first guess is that I shoot with gps on almost all the time; therefore maybe it’s a case of trying to load too many coordinates.
Any suggestions, I have been fighting this one far too long, I love the GPS feature it would be a shame to have to let it go. Thanks so much for looking into this for me if anyone has time.
