The following information is required to get an answer:
Get this information from the PHP diagnostic (in the configuration wizard).
Gallery URL (optional but very useful): http://www.aberdeenshirepoms.com/gallery/available
Gallery version: 1.5.3
Apache version: 1.3 ?
PHP version (don't just say PHP 4, please): 5.2
Graphics Toolkit: ImageMagick
Operating system: Linux / Shared Hosting
Web browser/version (if applicable):

Having 2 problems at present.
1) can't login with password. Tried to reset it but it keeps looping:

Reset admin Password
To continue the password reset process, you must edit the file "/home/content/a/b/e/aberdeenshirel/html/gallery/setup/resetadmin", remove any data currently inside it, and add the text removed for public display. Once you have done that, press the refresh button below. If you know your current admin password, please remove the "/home/content/a/b/e/aberdeenshirel/html/gallery/setup/resetadmin" file from the server.

Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct () in Unknown on line 0

2) When I was able to login I could upload pictures and the thumbnails won't show. Sometimes the picture would show if you click on the thumbnail link. I had to reinstall the entire software package on Legacy hosting and we were able to add pictures with no problem. I asked and the version of ImageMagick is 5 and 6. What version works best with this version of Gallery.

The reason I like this version is that I can customize the software to look like the website.

I tried installing Gallery 3.0.2 and the pictures I have uploaded don't show up at all.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Maria

Hi Maria,

@1: This looks indeed like a misconfiguration of the webserver. I'd contact your hoster.

@2: Gallery 1.5 works fine with either ImageMagick 5, or 6. Version 6 is "prefered".

@3: Gallery 1.5. is not working well with PHP 5.2. Unfortunately there is no - or at least i don't know about - direct upgrade to Gallery 3.

After numerous calls to the hosting company who kept telling me it was a "scripting" error I finally got someone higher up. The problem is the same as before when I ended up having to switch to legacy hosting. The original server had an Apache upgrade to 2.2 from 1.3. That is when my clients couldn't add pictures to their galleries. I was told that if I moved them to legacy hosting that would solve the problem. So we did and I had to re-upload the entire site and the gallery pictures as well. It was working fine until this week. I found out that for security reasons they had to upgrade Apache without regard to clients who need it as it was. The PHP 5.2 wasn't even a issue.

I did try using Gallery 3 and once it was installed I uploaded some pictures into an album named Available. They don't show up at all. I installed using their value added uploader.

The reason I like version 1.5 is that I can customize the gallery to look like the website. I am now researching other options. Do you know of any easy gallery like software I can use with this site? My clients need the ability to add and delete photos and add a captions. They also need the ability to add sub albums on occasion. If I can customize the background and text color I can put the gallery in an iframe.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
