I am not finding an embed video module for gallery3 in the downloads list. Its available only gallery2 may be that's the problem
Posts: 32
under http://www.gallerymodules.com/ u can find it under the G3.0- and G3.1-List... and i think it's preinstalled already...?

I have never been able to make this module work and the author has not created any documentation for it. It ehre some users that got it to work and I can't create docs to understand how it works if I can't get it to work.
There is a thread where the author started in the forums, but I can't find it now.

thats like i find out about it...
but is it true, that we can't upload ANY movie to the g3? in any way? not even a flash-movie?
I can upload movies just fine.
http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
I just can't get the embedded movie module to work.

do you have a special encoder or a maximum filesize set?
my flv is uploading and then nothings there...
In general I use the server add method to add movies.
Try the small examples first so we are on the same page of what 'nothing there' means.

thats this one in the attachement?
i uploaded a 15MB sized flv movie...
but "it's not there" =(
Posts: 27300
I don't consider 15Megs small.
Download a movie from http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html to see if any of those 3 movies work.

I get the same error too.
Looking at the logs this is the first thing I see:
and it is erroring on parsing the url

to resolve my above issue I had to add the following to my ./galleery3/php.ini:
From what I've read, this may be restrictive on a host by host basis, and therefore unresolvable in some cases.
Now I get:
more to investigate. It seems that even though I provide a URL it is null, or not getting passed in here.

i tried to integrate now the smalles of the flv-vids...
upload over server-add works, but there is no thumbnail and it cannot be played...
look attachement
Posts: 27300
I guess the version of ffmpeg is not compatible with the extraction of the frame to generate the thumb.
See if the http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:videodimensions module will help.

the case is: i don't really have installed ffmpeg......... my hoster doesn't allow this.
I guess the video dimensions module should help. Since you don't have ffmpeg then you will have to live with the default movie thumb or manually chanage it on the file system.

theres my problem: i see the ugly thumbnail, but when i click it, i see only the loading screen... never a movie!
not even a swf or flv file will be played there... if i upload it with the server-add, the video-add or directly.

This is taking too ling to diagnose one day at a time. PM me (write to author link) login info to an album so I can see the behavior myself.

Got your PM,
I was able to add a video, but no thumb was generated, I suspect that you don't have ffmpeg functioning properly.
The video plays fine in the wind theme. I guess the theme you have chosen does now allow videos t play in the popup or there is some configuration of theme preventing it from working.

u were right! the popup-script is the matter... i turned it off and now it's working.
the thumbnails aren't a big problem, but is there maybe a way to change them?
THANKS FOR ALL! amazing support... really!
i let your account for a moment, if i need more support ;)
Yes, you will have to manually change them on the file system using the same size of the existing thumb.

I'm confused?
Did you find a way to embed a youtube video? That was the original question wasn't it?

i'm sorry... the original question is not solved. just the method to upload
a movie, because this was another point that not worked in my g3.
but i still surf the whole internet to find a php-solution for a embedding-code, that works with this gallery........... still nonthing found!

luz, I tried after u said the module was there, for u at least that error msg appeared for me nothing happens. It just sits over the embed video option.
Me too. Which probably means your hosts default has this setting on already.
If I try it now, it just sits there (like you described). BUT, with logging turned on you (at least I,) get the second error I posted.

so i think we have the same problems... something in the script denies to forward and integrate the embedded youtube-link...
i'm not a php-master, so i don't have any ides, how to change the script to keep it work correctly

We need a g3 developer or their little black book on how to accept a URL for the ORM. From what I saw in the logs, it sees the URL, and rejects it for "safety" reasons?
Im not certain this is in itself a function of PHP, I think it is a function of the G3 base

this sounds complicated, but maybe we can get "floridave" back on this thread, to help us find out. he's a gallery-team-member!

I have never got the 'embed video' module to work.

php-editing needed...

I'm befuddled....
It just worked.
I have not disabled anything. I am logged in as "admin", I went to "add-->embed video", in the url are I pasted exactly what you see on the new line below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMv2nrZahD8&feature=player_embedded
clicked add, the button greyed out, and moments later it completed and was there.
I added this under a root album that had other albums in it but as a new item by itself.
I know I fixed the "allow_url_fopen = On " as posted above, and I have debug=4 in the config file, but I do not have any debugging active at the moment at all, and it just "worked".
Pretty cool I gotta say!

now this is an interesting idea...
i never tried out with the "&feature=player_embedded" command.
HOW and WHERE did u change the "allow_url_fopen = On" and "debug=4"...?
i don't where i can find that - it's not in the advanced-prefs in the admin-menu... or is it?
thanks for the input, i think we can find a solution... I HOPE SO!

here u have the failure-code after i hit the ADD button... it looks like this:
--> i replaced the video- and title-names to "XXXXXX"...
My post above is where I set the allow_url_fopen...
Anyhow, as for adding the video, I pasted the link just as you see it and left the title, description, and website areas blank. I can say I had already logged out of the gallery and again, I logged in as "admin" but for whatever reason it worked. No code edits and all of my desired modules are enabled. Nothing changed, besides:
1.) I logged out and logged in as "Admin"
2.) I used the full url instead of the shorter one, BUT I just tried "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5im0Ssyyus" and it worked too.
So perhaps it has somthing to do with logging out and back in?

ok, i tried this "allow_url_fopen = On" and nothing changed.
i think my problem is a different to yours. because i don't get an error like you.
i think i have a form-problem, because the failure-message is displayed IN the same
window as the form is to fill out the youtube-links etc... and that what you have
here is a real php-failure-message...
after changing the allow_url_fopen i still got this answer:
and the rest of the html-code i get there is just the form, written in html, isn't it?
that means, something is going wrong even before the gallery gets my youtube-link...

I looked though some themes and can't find that file either.
Some themes have:
<?= $theme->script("jquery.form.js") ?>
in page.html.phpPerhaps your theme is missing a file or has a typo?

Just for testing I've installed XAMPP and gallery on localhost, and guess what... it works out the box! Just XAMPP, gallery and embed module.
So I'm starting to think this is something related to the server or some stupid Apache configuration.
Any idea is welcome...
