moving ajaxian thumbnails

hey.

im designing a gallery for a client and have the ajaxian theme pretty much sorted the way they want it. however they want the thumbnails to the left or right of the main image.

now i know how to move the large image. thats no problem. but how do you move the thumbnails up and to the left?

i know i could edit the thumbnail container margin in theme.css but that just moves everything up where i just want to move the thumbnails.

is this possible or am i just askin for a whole heap of trouble??
