Search Page - how to get access to full list of items, not just current page

I am adding Colorbox feature to the theme and in order to properly show slideshow, I am referencing all images regardless of the page
it work well since page's $item has all children, not just for current page

Search page is slightly different and method above does not work,
is there a way to achieve the same result?

i.e. there should not be difference between album/dynamic/search as it all works with simple collection of thumbs...
