Allow Tags to be added directly under pictures

I have a 2000 image install that I use for my college-level studio class called image studio.

I want students to be able to easily and quickly add tags in every context.

I have tag modules included and have the "Tag Settings" admin page on which I can activate:

"Allow Tags to be added directly under pictures". With this activated I get a "New Tag(s)" function in album view at every level. The problem is that this does not show up on individual image pages. All I have is a link in the list of item actions. Clicking this is clunky and takes the user into an additional seperate window.

With the setting "Allow Tags to be added directly under pictures" I would think that this function would get turned on in the image page too. IS there any way to activate this? If not is there a template edit that would do it?

no. that function only works in thumbnails page

I haven't looked at or used that module, but you could probably hook it into image pages, the same what it hooks into album pages (those pages with thumbnails).

Have you taken a look at the code for the Tag module yet?

I've not looked at the Tag module code. I've done a bit of snooping code and cutting and pasting, but I don't really know what I'm doing and that can cause some problems.

Activating this feature in Tags Module is part of the module settings and does not (from what I can find) show up as a controllable option in the theme/album setting area.
