I have been using GWT Organise.

I'd like to be able to resize pictures before I upload, but I don't want to use a photo editor to do it. So, GWT gives you an option to resize pictures before upload. This cuts down on storage size (since original pictures nowdays are 5MB+) and also upload time.

I am curious, what do you guys use for uploading?
Do you upload originals? Resize before upload? Something else?

Just trying to get some ideas on different ways.
And now that Gears is no longer suported, GWT will have to be updated to support new HTML5 standards with IE9 and FF5

Thanks for any input as maybe I am missing some easy way to do what I need.

Server add or the normal method.

I resize before upload, but I use irfanview to batch resize.

I don't resize before upload.
I use the server add method and the flash uploader.

I typically have issues using anything other than server add. I only upload full size images from my cameras.. 20D/40D/7D/5D II.

I usually end up using FTP to put the pictures on the server and then do a server add and then delete what I uploaded.

I upload unresized pictuers directly from my camera after an event, typically 50 pictures or more at once.

The flash uploaders all fail for this scenario due to timeouts or other errors, and 3 at a time with the HTML uploader is way too slow.

I'd really like a better way though :)

I love the Gallery, just seems that uploading pictures is the first thing you do, and should be something that is very easy to do and fairly flexible.

GWT allowed to do 2 things.. upload many images at once and ReSize them before uploading.

I agree that we need a better uploader and re-sizing would be nice. However we got sooo much flack over using flash that we are a bit hesitant to do any development that needs flash. I can only thing of 2 ways to re-size on the client; flash and java.
If anybody has a better idea and can develop a module, please step forward and show us your stuff.
Here is some flash inspiration:

i have no problem with flash, as long as it resizes and uploads multiple images.

one thing i liked most of all about gallery2 was the plugin/registry hack you could install into windows to allow "publish to the web" link on the left to send items directly from windows explorer to g2. or the webdav module where you could mount the gallery under my computer and copy stuff in that way. now i'm on linux, i'm not overly fussed about the existing of the windows web publisher link anymore, but kde/dolphin still has the ability to "browse" a webdav directory, and copy in and out of it that way.

i'd really like to see the webdav functions from g2 pulled into g3. that'd be awesome.

webdav like this?
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:webdav

I have no idea what state it's in as it's a 3rd party module, but there is an option that someone has built. There are only (currently) 147 modules listed here:
