Add from server timing out

Hi all, Im trying to use server add in gallery 3 to add aprox 14,000 images accross 100+ albums, all the images are on the server in folders per album, the problem is when i go to start the import all looks good but it stalls after about 80 images, i keep having to click pause then resume in the maintence tasks of the adimin page. any ideas? your server or host has some limit imposed and it shutting down the process.
What do the galelry3/var/logs say?

the image toolkit just gave up or was terminated. Unable to tell why.

If you're using GD, try using ImageMagick. Admin > Settings > Graphics
