Gallery Randomly Running Convert Processes

Okay, so my site has been shut down two times for convert processes. The more recent time has been when I wasn't even running any. Which shows to me that Gallery is running something in the background while I'm not uploading anything. Is this normal? How can I stop this from happening? Anyway to decrease the amount of RAM Gallery 2 uses?

Any input would be great.

Make sure you've got your thumbs and resizes all built. Make sure your pages are being cached (Site Admin > Performance)

Don't have anyone visiting your site :)

Gallery will run those processes if it finds an image that's broken or needing to be rebuilt. So if thumbs or resizes are missing they'll be rebuilt. In G2, these files are stored under g2data/ and are not stored as "jpg" files in the file system. So if someone has been mucking about in there to reduce the number of files G2 is using, that can do this too.

Yea, All thumbnails are built AFAIK, Initially is the only way I can build them. I have too many photos that are full size to do a mass resize, thats how the server got shut down in the first place.

Is there a way I can set something to stop it from running processes when it hits a certain amount of memory or CPU usage? Apparently the process has been running all day today. This is forcing me to put it in maintenance mode.

one of the themes builds thumbs/resizes dynamically... maybe hybrid or ajaxian I cannot remember - it was screwing w/ my transcoded videos - wanting to rebuild them every time.
