We are experimenting with the idea of adopting Gallery 3.x over our existing software. So, a lot of our content is already on the server.

It makes little sense to re-upload.

I can create the album directories, move copies of the content into them, via linux cp/mv/etc, but I can not figure a way to 'adopt' the content.

I have searched the forums and modules.

Is it possible?

short answer: no.

long answer: kind of. you can't just "import" files in-situ without some form of processing on the files within g3. however, if you use the server-add module, and put in the allowed paths the paths to your existing content, you can import from there. it will, however, duplicate the content on the server. however, once it's done, you can delete the old content if you so wish.

Thank you Dan,

I saw it, but could not get it to work. I found the problem.

Now, I need to find who to contact to correct that misdirecting section of the documentation. 'local server', and the part about full path.

The software sees the directory of the Gallery3 install as 'root'.

BTW: and getting a bit out of topic, looking at your avatar, that looks like a Pom. Pom spoken here.

I guess that would be you. The community writes the docs. So if you feel uncomfortable in fixing them just tell me what they should say to clear up any misinformation/ambiguity or anything unclear.

Hello, Dave.

I would not be comfortable directly editing the docs, even if I knew how.

I found the link at the top of the Gallery3:User Guide, and posted there.

Hope that was correct.

Sarah.
