Hi,

I realize I should probably be using G3, but I had just as many problems with that as I am having now with G2, just different problems. I hope you can help.

I understand that in (at least) G2, the root album is also an album which can hold pictures, and also holds all other albums.

I'm using the x_treme theme. Is it possible to add pictures to a sub-album, from a sub-album, while viewing a photo?

It seems that no matter what I do, or which options I choose, I can't get a button or "item action" pull-down, or sidebar option in a subalbum that allows me to add a photo unless I'm at the actual album level.

I currently have the system configure to go directly to the first photo in the album when clicking on a thumbnail, instead of to the sub-album level.

Thanks,
Alex

No, that's not even a theme dependent issue either. There is no option to select an album to upload photos to. You upload to the album you're looking at if you're uploading through the web interface (meaning everything but stuff like Gallery Remote)

In G2, you need to in an album looking at the album to perform actions on that album. I suppose you could probably hack some files to change that possibly, but I'm not sure. G3 allows you to add photos to the album of a photo you're currently looking at :)

Consider X_treme 1.0.3 to be the last properly functional version of the theme.

Versions 1.0.4, 1.0.5 and 1.0.6 should be considered as development versions. Development then ceased and they should actually come with a health warning.

So if you want to use the X_treme theme, v1.0.3 is what you should be installing. You will find that it works with Gallery 2.3.1. Just make sure you resist the urge to upgrade when the G2 plugin page tells you there is a newer version available.

Alternatively, you can try PGTheme which X_treme was supposed to replace. I know for certain that it works with G2.3.1 since I updated it to do so and it is what I use.

Someone who understands the community repo thingy should repackage v1.0.3 as v1.0.7 and put it there to save a ton of grief.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm wondering if the general recommendation is to be using G3, and if there is a comparable theme to carbon and x_treme in G3?

Is G3 a better and more stable implementation, or just different?

How are security issues with G2 addressed? Have there been any lately?

I really liked the microthumbs with x_treme and G2. Is that available with G3?

Why wasn't x_treme converted to be used with G3? It seems so much more customizable and advanced than any other theme.

Thanks again,
Alex
