While I agree with the decision to take it out, given the inconsistent behaviour, I do agree that it's a shame. I assume that the basic structure is still there so that those who want to reinsert it can do so? (On the road at the moment so not easy to check). This seems to me to be better than users not understanding why their pages are flickering.

I wonder if it has something to do with Internet Explorer's built in page fade option? I'm using the latest FF and it works perfectly.

Code has been removed
If someone willing to find elegant solution, I will consider putting it back
Problem is not with ie but with people using old browsers which do not take advantage of the hardware
What would be great if way how MS did propose to have it supported at meta tag level would have been supported as part of the standard

Hi,
I have updated GD theme to 3.13, but the credit still shows as 3.12.
I also still have the theme options page items misaligned with the appropriate blocks, this was fixed in one version, but came back again in 3.12.

/me throws some cash into Serge's coffee fund.

Enjoy some lattes on me, Serge. Thanks for a great theme. I'd been holding off on upgrading to G3 but your theme addressed almost all of the issues I had with the default installation and it looks great. Keep up the good work!

Version # was not updated in theme.info, sorry. I just refreshed the file to correct it. No need to download it, unless you want perfect number :)

what do you mean by misalignment?

I've been out of the loop for a while, and am very impressed with all the hard work.

Quote:
ADMIN: New option - Disable photo page - open FancyBox style slideshow directly from album page

Feeling kinda dumb here. I just upgraded to 3.1.3 without much difficulty. But I haven't found the setting to disable the photo page?!

****
EDIT: Dang, found it. Having a problem with the admin page similar to what's been previously discussed. Check boxes do not align with the labels.

I do not see this happening on my instance
few suggestions:
in themes's admin/view folder find file admin_include.html.php
look for .g-admin-left and .g-admin-right - these are left and right columns
play with width properties there

I have the same problem. I think the problem comes from the previous version 3.1.2
The problem happens in all browsers

OK I'm confused. I found the lines, then boosted left to 60, right to 39. The problem went away. Then I started going back towards the original settings. But even at 50/49, I couldn't reproduce the problem!

Did a browser upgrade to FF8.0 eliminate the issue? I don't know, but it looks good now, with the original settings:

.g-admin-left { float: left; width: 53%; }
.g-admin-right { float: left; width: 46%; margin-left: 1%; margin-top: 1em; }

I'll check on another box at the office tomorrow.

And people were complaining about IE being non-compliant browser
At least if it is wrong, it is consistent and everyone knows what to do about it. Not so many issues in latest version.
gC and FF on the other hand break more things with each release than fix. Yes, issues are small, but 10+ releases in a year time? Sorry...

I just set this up on a site for my dad and it looks great (using 3.1.3). I just have one problem... when we go to Theme Options, we get this error: Any ideas?

Quote:

I saw a prior post that had this issue, but it was quite a few versions ago and am not sure if the fix is still relevant.

ah, ok
this means that you do not have any of the following modules installed: fancybox, colorbox, shadowbox
you may want to have at least one with GD theme
I'll fix the check in the next version, in the mean time, you can try and install one of them.

Thanks... that worked.

Few items:
- Kbd Navigation - When this is enabled, the menu items (album options, admin, etc) no longer work. In addition, the Login/Logout button disappears.
- Alignment is off in Theme Options (at least in FF8). I think this was mentioned in the thread already.
- Columns per page - This seems to be number-selected minus 1. So if I put 5 columns, 4 show up. If I put 3, 2 show up.
- Rows per page - I think this is number-selected plus 1. For more detail, I have 3 rows and 5 columns. This gives me a 4x4 grid. I also think that what is columns should be rows and vice versa. Unless I'm missing something.
- Last, there is no way that I could see to change the number of pictures to display. In order to get 16 pictures to show (it was 20), I had to change back to the Wind theme, change the number of pictures, then change it back to GD.

Don't get me wrong, my dad is really happy with it, but just a few things we noticed. Let me know if I can help in any way.

I have kbb navigator and it does work I.e. does not break JS. Try disabling it to make sure it is what it is
As I said, I do not support 10 versions of Chrome and 5 versions of FF, sorry, no resources for browsers which decided to release stuff every month
Columns work fine for my install

Edit: issue most likely related to your browser's settings - such behavior would be shown when size of the thumb area is not big enough, so nth row cell actually goes into next row.
You may detect this if you see empty space on the right

Number of items on the page is driven by rows*columns, there is no items per page. Yes, you can override it with Wind theme, as I have to use it internally, but hacking it this way may break the theme and paging

For toutch devices like tablets, smartphone, etc, the passage to the next picture, should come with one touch, like facebook
The dragon theme, works great on android. My device is Asus transformer

Please elaborate on the touch... When clicking photo? Or by swiping?
Click is here with navigation buttons, but I guess we can add left/right area on the image for navigation as well
I rather have swipe with transition between pages :)

Can someone please help.

I am struggling with frustrating css/html changes and where
exactly to make them. The custom css did not pan out for me.

Theme: Greydragon.
I wish to change the below font colors, size, etc,
I'm identifying these with the 'Firebug' extension to Firefox web browser.

Under the Album & Thumb views, the file name description...

1. Html
<ul class="g-description"><li class="g-title">Favorites</li></ul>

2.Css Path
html body.g-toolbar-large div#g-main div#g-main-in div#g-column-centerleft div.g-album-grid-container ul#g-album-grid li#g-item-id-85.g-item div.g-thumbslide ul.g-description

3. Style
.g-thumbslide .g-description {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #1E1E1E;
border-bottom: 1px solid #303E43;
border-top: 1px solid #303E43;
color: #FFFFFF;
opacity: 0.85;
}

4. Style
.g-thumbslide .g-description {
display: none;
font-size: 0.85em;
left: 6px;
margin: 10px 0 1px 11px;
min-height: 24px;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 2px 8px;
position: absolute;
text-align: left;
top: 6px;
width: 184px;
z-index: 3;

I have tried to change the base.css and colors.css but it didn't keep.
Can someone please help?

I'm trying to change the "text-align: left" to 'center', color: FFFFFF to 6666FF, and others.

Thank you.

First, base.css is not a right place, neither is colors.css as a) information is cached and b) may be lost as you push next general update for the theme.
Second, you are on the right track with the CSS class, but it may be incomplete
You would need to use
.g-default .g-thumbslide .g-description { color: #6666FF; }
or
.g-expanded .g-thumbslide .g-description { color: #6666FF; }
for bottom aligned description
Try and see which one work for you

Serge, thank you for your quick reply.

Which file exactly are you referring to ?
I do not know which file I can change the Styles on.

Also, how about the alignments for centering the text, and
the text sizes ?

Thank you again.

Suggested place for custom CSS is ... custom.css :)
Please refer to theme's FAQ for more details

Serge.

I have read the faq and attempted to use direct link: http://www.mysite.com/public_html/gallery/custom.css
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Themes:greydragon#FAQ

I cannot find any example of how to change the size or alignment of the font below the albums or thumbnails.
i.e. Redefine font-family rule for BODY tag.

I'm attempting to follow your advise above... is this correct below for font centering and font size changes
in the custom.css ?

.g-default .g-thumbslide .g-description {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #1E1E1E;
border-bottom: 1px solid #303E43;
border-top: 1px solid #303E43;
color: #6666FF;
opacity: 0.75;
}

.g-expanded .g-thumbslide .g-description {
display: none;
font-size: 0.75em;
left: 6px;
margin: 10px 0 1px 11px;
min-height: 24px;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 2px 8px;
position: absolute;
text-align: centered;
top: 6px;
width: 184px;
z-index: 3;
}

Thank you.

It is harder to guess application of the CSS to you particular install or what could be wrong
if you want, I can take a quick look at the site - PM me an URL

Serge.

Thank you for your offer to help.
I really like this theme.

Since my specialty is not css, you can best help me if you
answer if it 'is' or is 'not' possible to change the font sizes, alignments
and capitalizations via the custom.css for what's under the album/inside album thumbnails.

Then I can take some more time on my own to customize.

Thanks again.

what do you need to change about the header?

Thanks, I read it but don't really understand. I can get around in hrml, but css is rather baffling to me. What I want to do is to replace the Gallery header with my own logo and a link back to my website.

Well, if you want to go beyond basic customization, you need to get some understanding of CSS or find someone who can sit with you and do customization for you :)

From the link above, for logo place file somewhere on your server and then

Quote:
Provide path to Alternate Logo Image in Admin section. Logo need to have transaprent background so it blends with header's background properly

or if you want to have logo which spans across the whole header

Quote:
1.Make site of fixed width (see below)
2.Create special CSS rule for #g-header like this
#g-header { background-image: url("../images/my-header-background.png"); }

I am confused... mostly just tired. I've been at this a while now. I can't seem to figure out how to implement the different color packages to the default theme. I want to try blackhawk instead of default greydragon. Where do I edit this.

On the theme options page (Appearance > Theme Options) you can change the colorpack. It's in the "General Settings" group labeled "Selected Color Pack". All you should have to do is pick a new color pack and save your changes.

Hi Serge and thank you for your tremendous and great work!

I have a following problem: I'm using the Gallery 3.0.2 with theme version 3.1.3 and Fancybox. Everything works well with FF, but IE (in this case IE 8) gives me the following complaint when I click any picture in any album:

"'TagName' is zero or not an object" Nothing happends...

My host provider uses:

PHP versio 5.3.8
MySQL versio 5.1.56-log

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

@Koaswer: I am using IE 9, running in debug mode with no errors
I know you've said any album, but I tried this http://www.ellikki.fi/home/ellikkif/public_html/gallery3/index.php/Kaulakorut-Necklaces-Halsketten/IMG_2867 without any errors with or without a debugger, in IE 8 mode, ...
Does it make difference for you if you log off (not in admin mode)? or it is just IE 8? does it happen in compatability mode?

So you were also able to see the fancybox effects? That's odd.
Using gallery as a admin or guest doesn't make any difference. Problem also occurs in compatability mode.
The only IE version that I have tried it with is IE 8. I even cleaned up the browsing history, but no effect.

I will try it with IE 9 and tell you how it goes.

I upgraded my IE8 to IE9 and this is what it showed me:

Translation: "'incorrect calling object' row 53 mark 2305"

It's from the same picture that you chose: http://www.ellikki.fi/home/ellikkif/public_html/gallery3/index.php/Kaulakorut-Necklaces-Halsketten/IMG_2867
I got the same result with both IE 9 modes and in IE 8 mode.

Strange. Let's try something
Under theme's admin option at bottom of the page, in maintenance section select "Purge cache data" and click update.
This should rebuild JS caches.
In the mean time I will check on FancyBox's code to see if there were any updates recently.

Edit: yes, in fact, there is a major release - v.2.0 available now under name of FancyApps.
I will look into creating an updated version of the module. There are some interesting features.

Well, I purged the cache data and also went through Gallery's maintenance tasks.

Same error message, but now in a different line:

I tried purging several times and only once i had a bit of luck. The Fancybox timer icon started rolling and then the overlay color kicked in, but then it just froze.

Is there any way to customize the login screen? I have protected gallery (entire site) so the first page is always the login screen. Any way to adjust this page (bg image, layout, etc) without effecting the other pages of the gallery?

Thanks for your help!!

Copy
/gallery3/modules/gallery/views/error_404.html.php
into
/gallery3/themes/custom/views/

make necessary modifications

PS: Paths above could be different for your installation, so please adjust accordingly
