We've been alerted to a security vulnerability in Gallery 1.4 that can allow remote access to your system. It only affects a very small percentage of Unix installations (though it affects all Windows installations). Only the following versions of Gallery have the bug:
* 1.4
* 1.4-pl1
* 1.4.1 (unreleased; prior to build 145)

On Unix, this vulnerability only affects systems where Gallery is left in configuration mode (a relatively small percentage of Gallery users since Gallery is not operational in configuration mode). On Windows, this vulnerability affects anybody using versions of Gallery with the bug. The problem has been fixed in:

This optional update to version 1.4-pl1 contains four new languages:
Bulgarian, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean and Hungarian.
In addition, translations for 11 other languages were updated.

This update is only to enhance the multi-language translations in version 1.4-pl1, and is entirely optional. If you are happy with Gallery v1.4-pl1, you don't need this update.

NOTE: Since the 1.4-pl2 security update is now available, we urge everyone with versions 1.4 or 1.4-pl1 to upgrade to that version, which also contains this language pack update. For this reason, we've removed the "-lang1" patches from the download page.

Only moments after releasing Gallery v1.4, we found a very small bug, introduced just before the release, which causes all image rotations to fail. We've released v1.4-pl1 to fix this issue.

If you've already downloaded v1.4, you should upgrade, either via a patchfile, or you can download the full 1.4-pl1 package from the Gallery Download Page.

Gallery v.1.4 and Gallery Remote v.1.1 are now available! Version 1.4 premieres some major new features: Gallery is now internationalized, and can be displayed in over 20 languages! In addition, we've completely overhauled the documentation and made it more accessible and more informative. Other changes include ownership of individual album items, not just of albums, and a slew of minor improvements and bugfixes.

Other new features for Gallery 1.4 include:

• Support for lossless JPEG rotation, and new "flip photo" options
• Image size and JPEG EXIF data can be displayed below photos
• Data loss prevented if disk space is exceeded
• Image dimensions and file size can be restricted
• Support for "*" wildcards in search field
• Add items to front or back of album
• Tons of other feature enhancements and bugfixes

In addition, Gallery Remote v.1.1 is available. This new version now sports a preferences dialogue. Also: Proxy and HTTPS support, ability to rotate pictures before uploading them, a more efficient protocol for getting the list of albums, and support for the "Extra Fields" functionality introduced in Gallery 1.3.4.
