at about 25% completion on my web server - Gallery has me create a directory to store my files. When I create this directory and indicate it in the path box on the setup step, it return the message "The directory you entered is read only" - Does this have to do with permissions from me webhost provider or is there something I can do to rectify this? I'm stuck! Thanks in advance.

Great! I changed the permissions of my directory via my FTP client to 777 and it worked. Now, when I'm trying to access the additional plugins (any of them from the repository) it gives me an error,

"Error downloading index from 'http://gallery.menalto.com/repository/released/index'.
Please make sure that your internet connection is set up properly or try again later."

Any ideas?

In order for gallery to download to your gallery2/modules directory it also has to be 777 temporarily. After your done installing modules from the repository you'll want to return it to 755.

But also some of the more restrictive hosts do not allow that functionality.

You can also download the modules yourself and ftp them to your gallery2/modules directory
