I'm a completely new gallery user and just installed gallery3. I was suggested to start a new thread with these problems.
I have upgraded to current latest release: ..-3.0-rc-2-325-gaf24aa5.zip

Autorotate works when uploading on the web but it doesn't work when using server add. Nothing is entered in the galleries log or apaches log.

The system tells me: "Some of your modules are out of date. Upgrade now!" so I try to run .../index.php/upgrader but it doesn't work. It just tells me: "Some modules failed to upgrade! Failed modules are highlighted. Try getting newer versions or deactivating those modules.". It says nothing about why it failed and the faq doesn't seem to tell me anything useful. It tries to upload a new version of the autorotate module (from 1 to 2 although the file modules/autorotate/[whatever.inf file says it's version 2. (This is the first time I run upgrader)
Nothing is entered in the gallerys log or apaches errorlog.

I don't understand why you needed to run the upgrader. If you installed a GIT version of G3 then you should not have had to run the upgrader. What if you start over?

These both sound like bugs in the autorotate module; try getting a newer version or talking to dmolavi in the thread about that module.
Note: you do need to run the upgrader if you use git. Every time you replace the code (git pull or download) you should run the upgrader.

The server add module doesn't appear to throw any events. The autorotate module is listening for add_photos_form_completed (can be extended for others), but a grep on the server add directory shows no module::event calls.
