As a user of g2 it was great to see a new module - Externals published recently.

It provides a source for static images outside G3.

Just a note in this regard for people who wants to publish mini-slideshows outside instead.

G3 has support for RSS image feeds. Being in RSS format, user, potentially, would have more control over transformation using existing (usually Flash-based) solutions (ex: Flashyourweb Minislideshow).
Default Slideshow module is using RSS feeds to display content in Cooliris.

Preliminary example of minislideshow with G3 RSS feed integrated within WordPress could be seen here

There are several RSS available currently for G3:

  • Default RSS module

    • Latest photos and movies - /rss/feed/gallery/latest
    • Album Photos - /rss/feed/gallery/album/[$id]
  • Tag Module
    • /rss/feed/tag/tag/[$id]
  • RSS Extra module
    • /rss/feed/rss_extra/random

and I am sure there are more to come

Saying that it probably would be nice to have implemented Flashyourweb MediaBlock of the RSS feed
