in the end, after I got my head past not having the setup system involved in G1 or the huge administration section in G2, I realized how easy G3 actually is! It helped a lot to find:
Modules:http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:menu_links
and
This is the main wiki with the links to important info: [b]http://codex.gallery2.org/Category:Gallery_3

and
reading all of the posts here.

Thanks to all of you who are working on this. It is a GREAT program! and, on payday, I'll even pay what I can afford to help out.

I've been away for quite some time, so I'm more than a little lost. My webhost has Gallery3 as their default install for Gallery. I got quite excited and installed it. Now I'm a wee bit confused. I see it is RC1 and incredibly new, but is there any chance that there is some documentation or a a beginner how-to. I remember configuring G1 through all of its incarnations, then G2 and it was quite intuitive, but I'm kind of floundering.. Any direction will be appreciated. :-)Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllp.... LOL

which web host would that be? until 2 days ago, Gallery 3 was in beta phase, so that's pretty surprising.

are you sure it's Gallery 3 and not Gallery 2.3?

> any chance that there is some documentation or a a beginner how-to

not that I know of. but that doesn't mean much. maybe there's a guide.
there are some docs (mostly for developers though) at http://codex.gallery2.org/Development. maybe the FAQ covers a few of your questions.

> then G2 and it was quite intuitive

we sure hope G3 is more intuitive than G2! :) that was one of the main reasons we made G3.

The host is BlueHost, under their Simple Scripts, to quote,
"In Progress
You do not need to stay on this page for this process to complete.
Installing Gallery 3.0.rc-1 (Release Candidate) to http://www.skeenastormstones.com/gallery"

It is installed at http://skeenastormstones.com

Now, believe me that it is G3? LOL

Anyway...I'll try it again. My favourite Gallery was the first one-I LOVED IT so much I even paid for it! :-) I think I got confused because, out of habit, I went right into Admin and got a bit confused. It is incredibly easy to add albums and photos. Now, I guess I'll figure the rest out.

Thx & Take care!

No. That's G2.3. Clue: See the graphic at the bottom that says "Gallery 2". And the hover-text that says "Powered by Gallery 2.3".

LOL Alec. I confused you about as much as I've managed to confuse myself! Yup, I tried several installations, uninstalled G3, installed G2, then even put G1 back up! Now I'm back to G3. G1 is still my fave, but I figure the least vulnerable will probably be G3 because it will be the most active over time. Still looking for a guide, but am finding a few things...I just have to be patient and wait for new modules and themes. I'm not a coder so I'm at the mercy of the volunteers (who do an amazing job, btw).
