Is there any way to allow members of a group to:
1. Create their own albums and have full access to those albums?
2. Restrict access to anyone else, except admins.

Is there any way to allow a user to register and create his or her own ID?

2) Right now, no. See above. Until an owner of an album can have full access to their album, you can have them add, but if they can see an album, so can anyone else in the same group. Right now you'd have to create a group for each user and set permissions for the groups.

There isn't a registration module for G3 yet.
