Can't change back language

Hi, recently I installed the german language pack and made some translations. Now I can't change the language back to english... the "default language" radio button is set, the german language pack seems to get uninstalled, but the gallery remains german... I upgraded to the release from the day before yesterday, today the zip is broken so I can't upgrade to the latest experimental... but maybe this problem exists in the latest code, too.
