Hello, thank you for the gallery (all versions).

I am working with G2.3 and i thought, this is cool let me try G3beta2.

It is really cool, but not easy to use (yet) for me..
So i wanted to delete this g3beta2 and continue with g2.3

On the server is now a folder called var and can't be deleted (because there are protected number 644 files in it).

How can i get them deleted?

Last time floridave was very helpfull with his lib/support solution, but G3beta2 has no such thing.

Please help me

Thank you very much,

Tessa

PS/Edit..

All is ok now. thank you Floridave for your help and others I forgot to mention. Thank You!!

I would ask your host or it might work if you enter the path to your var directory in the /lib/support solution of G2.
alternative:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Downloads:Cleanup_Script

What part of G3 did you find difficult? Sure it is missing features of G2 but is designed with UI in mind and should be very easy to understand.

Thank you, again, for your answer.

I've tried the /lib/support solution and could remove 95% of the files.

(I'm feeling a bit stupid, because you already pointed me on this /lib/support before for Gallery2, but I didn't read carefully. At the bottom is a perfect piece of help.)

Then the cleanup script did the trick. All is removed now.

It took me 45 minutes for 2 files and 5 folders. But it worked. I am very thankfull.

Kindly Regards,

Tes

I was getting into the G2 gallery and i thought that G3 would continue.
But like you said, it is completely different, and I had the feeling that lots of plugins/modules weren't there.

I'm sure they are there or are downloadable, but I've decided to work with G2 first and G3 will follow a bit later..

But it looks great with those drop down menus...

I'll keeping my eye on it for the future

Yes, if you're wanting lots of features, wait for G3 to be more mature. When G2 was first released there was a lot of "why isn't this or that there" so it will take awhile for people to create new plugins and themes.

I don't want all plugins. but yes i know... it will grow and get bigger, and it will be such as great or greater then G2.

Cheers,

The core should stay lean and mean, with a small feature set, just 3rd party contributed plugins and themes will be added. However, IMO, G3 is already better than G2, but I don't use any 3rd party plugins for G2 nor do I use most core plugins. I use it to upload and display my photos. No EXIF, no tagging, no keywords or dynamic albums, not selling anything, no printing services, no registration, no comments, just "Hey look at this". Though G3 has some of that and I'll probably end up incorporating some of it, but for my purposes, G3 is a better product by far than G2. :) G3 just needs it's finishing touches and it will be done for me. :) I just need a simple, easy to use Gallery that's hopefully easy to customize. G3 is looking really promising there. I had big dreams for my G2 installs but never followed through with them.
