Hi,

I created my first album with gallery3 , then I used "add new album" to create a new one but this new album is always created as a sub album of the first one. Is this a bug?

Thanks,

Can you post a URL to your site so we can see what you are talking about?

Just by your description, that's how Gallery and all other photo hosting solutions I've seen work.

You have the main page, then you create albums under that main page.

Knock out the simple first -- when you create an album, you are redirected into the album. So, if you "add new album" you would be adding a new album as a sub-album. Make sure that isn't the case.

Hi,

I have checked again and again but no matter what, the system keeps adding new album as a sub album.
I even created a new user to create album but it's the same. Were you able to create new albums as parent albums?

( In G3 beta 1, new user must either be a guest or admin, which I think not as good as G2 as with admin rights he can delete/edit.. the album of the Main admin.
or Do I miss something here? )

Thanks

POST A URL TO YOUR SITE

Otherwise, from what you've described, It's working as intended.

I only see images in your main album. No sub-albums (I'm not going though 27 pages to find that). Did you create any albums by going to Options > Add an Album?

The first album you see is the sub-album ( I just renamed it so you can see )
Yes, I created album that way. Is there another way?

Please feel free to create/edit one so you can see.

Thanks,

Didn't see that before.

O.k. I think I see what's going on. You're confused with how Gallery works. All versions of Gallery and any photo gallery software I've used behave this way.

You have your "main" album. This is the first page you look at. You put albums (sub-albums) under this main album. A new album does not create a new "site" or something like that.

Example:

Main Page (main album)
 |
 |___Sub-album
 |
 |___Sub-album
 |
 |___Sub-album
     |
     |___Sub_album

Does that help or is this not what you are seeing?

I thought it should be like this:
Main Page==> List of Album such as Album a, Album b
Then underneath of Album A can have Sub-ablum Aa and so on

( If I remember it correctly it was like that in Gallery 1 )

The way it is now does not make sense to me. Also, I can't delete an album, or edit many all at once, it keeps stalling.

Thanks again for taking time to check and explain it to me.

Yes, but those albums are really just sub-albums of the main album. It's just a "look". For G2, there is a theme to make it look like G1. Currently nobody has created any themes for G3 that I know of. I wouldn't be surprised if someone eventually creates a "classic" theme to make it look like you describe.

I was able to delete my test album just fine.

Ah, I see. That's a good news. Hopefully that template will be out soon :)

How do I delete the main album? I tried to delete them all but it seems only one photo at a time?

Thanks!

To delete EVERYTHING

Options > Organize Albums

Click Select All

Now click the Trash Bin icon

Then click Done.

hmmm that doesn't appear to be working in my Gallery. I think something is either not working or not 100% implemented yet, as I'm not able to re-organize images and albums either.

Right now, if you really want to get rid of everything in your Gallery it might be faster to delete your gallery, purge the database and start over.

Your edit brought this back to me.

Yeah, I've been playing with the Organize Album option more on my install, even with a pretty recent (1 or 2 day old) update from git. Still doesn't work for me. I was chatting with bharat on irc. Apparently there are still a lot of bugs with this and it's going to be gone through with a fine tooth comb.
