Hello, I've installed the latest version of the Gallery and have chmod'ed and all that. I'm now getting an error message here: http://198.247.172.111/~hall/gallery/ I checked in the FAQ first but didn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone have an idea? Thank you soo much, |

Can you post your config.php file?

This is going to sound weird, but I seriously can't find the file. I'm looking at the hidden files also and I just don't see a config.php on my hardrive or online in my ftp.

It should be in your gallery directory... Have you run the configuration wizard?

It's there: it's producing errors!

and they're weird errors, they don't have anything to do with gallery. It's like someone copied config.php from another program.

Yes, I did run the configuration wizard, that's where I found out that I had the chmod some files. I chmod'ed the files and refreshed the page, and then I had the error you see now.
I realize that the file must be there to have an error, it's just weird that I can't find it.

The file has to be there, I'm sure of it. It couldn't be producing an error if it weren't there ;) I can't help you too much until you find it...
If you do find it, make sure it's blank. If it isn't blank, delete it and re-upload a blank file...

Okay, so I uploaded a blank one and I got somewhere.
Now it's reasking me to chmod, which I did. Then it takes me to another screen to chmod again, with different values, 644, 644, and 0. Once I do that, it takes me back again to where I am now, where it wants me to chmod the files to 777,777, 755.
What's going on?

Steps are:
1) Upload two blank files. One called "config.php", one called ".htaccess".
2) CHMOD both of these to 777.
3) CHMOD the setup directory to 755.
4) Point your brower to http://www.yoursite.com/gallery/setup
5) Run all the way through the Configuration Wizard
6) When prompted to on the page, CHMOD the files back as indicated.
If something else is up, please post the versions you have of Apache and of PHP.

Success!
Everything works except it wants NetPBM, ImageMagick, and jhead.
I don't think I have to install all 3, which one's do I install though?

You only need NetPBM OR ImageMagick and jhead is optional...

Cool... are you allowed to make recommendations as to which one is better?

To quote beckett from a thread in the customization forum:
He is quite right. I would seriously suggest you look at installing NetPBM - I'm not sure it's possible to get ImageMagick installed without the help of your server admin but NetPBM is fast and simple to do yourself.
Have fun!
