Is there anyone actually working on the topic or do we better dump it?

I am sorry, but I think someone should talk plain text regarding the integration of Gallery2 into joomla. The offical page of Gallery does show files which are all at least 24 months old (two years!!!!!). Furthermore, there are so called nightly snapshots http://www.rabinovich.org/G2/ which may be built at night, but this night has passed by a long time ago. My question is, why does the Gallery homepage show links to nightly snapshots which are actually very old files? O.k. you do not take responsibility for that, what I understand, nevertheless, it does not appear serious, neither is it very funny to have people try those files for hours and days just to realise they are not good ( I do run some Gallery2 projects integrated into Joomla 1.5). The only usable files to integrate Gallery2 into Joomla 1.5 are stored here: http://trac.4theweb.nl/g2bridge/browser/branches/sil3nt/. But there too, the last change has occured 7 month ago. What I ask myself, and others probably too, is: 1. Do we have to suggest that Joomla users better change to another Gallery? Because it seems there is no development of the Gallery2 integration into Joomla 1.5 anymore? Other Joomla Galleries are: 2. Is there anybody planing to integrate Gallery3 into Joomla? I am very well aware that this work is all done for free and I am very greatfull for this. Unfortunately I do not have the programming skills to start such a project myself. But I still think that there is a lot or work done to built Gallery3 and it would be a pitty if it finally dies, because it does not integrate with other projects. It would be nice, if this starts a new discussion about Gallery2/Gallery3 integration into Joomla! Who knows, we may find a way thogether to create it. Best wishes, gadulia http://www.swissphoto.net |

If the community has some updates for this 3rd party integration and this needs to be updated please let us know. Perhaps it has not been worked on.
In my opinion it is up the the community to support integrations.
Perhaps it works? I don't know. Perhaps it has not been worked on.
If the links on GMC the codex or other GMC issues need to be corrected let us know. There is only so much so few can do.
Dave

It think the information you are looking for already exist:
http://forum.4theweb.nl/showpost.php?p=6741&postcount=3
and:
http://forum.4theweb.nl/showpost.php?p=6791&postcount=4
So the future of gallery2 to joomla integration is jfusion. They have a working solution and are (hopefully) closing in on an release.

You are right and thank you for the tip
An example is acutally here: http://www.jfusion.org/index.php/demo/gallery-2
But, why does the Gallery2 download section not direct to this? Instaed we are still shown the old link, which is not to be continued.

The gallery codex is for users like you by users like you. Why don't you fix it.

I have checked that out (http://www.jfusion.org/index.php/demo/gallery-2) but as far as I can see, there no real integration of Gallery2 shown. It looks rather as if the Gallery2 is shown on a Wrapper position. There are no Modules or anything else. There are even no pictures loades. Not a very good example.
Why?
1. There are no Modules
2 The example shows no menu-tree (usually the thing most complex if you integrate Gallery2)
3. They already talking about going commercial if you do not spend money
2. As far as they say, the plugin will be released for JFusion 1.2. But curently there is only a beta of JFusion 1.1.1 available.
Talking about money before I even show a sample module or plugin or whatever for the Gallery2 integration does not convince me about a reliable project for the future. It sounds everybody wants to make money out of Joomla only the Joomla developer - without whom nothing would function - do their jobs for free. It is somehow strange to look this way at it, at least for me.
I started a new project impementing Joomgallery, which runs on first install without any problems and is fully integrated into Joomla. It seems I will have to say goodby to Gallery2 and Joomla.
But I still like to say, Gallery2 and especially Gallery3 are very fine works which I will use in future further, but probably without Joomla or only wrapped.
A few examples what I am talking about:
http://forum.4theweb.nl/showthread.php?p=6112 (Asked a question 9 months ago, no answer)
It is definately more a thing for experts than the common Joomla user.

I've just tested it shortly.
Seems still to be not very easy. There are a lot of warnings and when I do the Login Checker I get following: Fatal error: Call to undefined method plguserg2bridge::onLoginUser() in /home/bilderfo/public_html/bilderforum/administrator/components/com_jfusion/views/logincheckerresult/tmpl/default.php on line 275
If I want to set up a menu with JFusion Gallery I get: Fatal error: Class 'GalleryCoreApi' not found in /home/bilderfo/public_html/bilderforum/administrator/components/com_jfusion/plugins/gallery2/elements/Galleries.php on line 29
Joomla 1.5.10
Gallery 2.3
Gallery runs smooth and Joomla too without JFusion.

Hello gadulia,
The first problem with plguserg2bridge::onLoginUser is because a bug in the old g2bridge. So just uninstall the old bridge and it should work.
The second error is expected in a wrong gallery2 path. Other than in the bridge you have to enter a absolute path without "embed.php"
Maybe this helps out a bit. I'll maybe try to fix this issue with the path to allow both types as expected by g2bridge.

Thanks Chris for the fast reply
I have tried all possibilites (at least I think so) of the absolute path. It seems two problems are solved but a new one arised.
Could you give me an example of your idea of the absolute path. I do not have problems with the old bridgt, which is not installed at this page as I set it up new.
And the link:

My page without JFusion and with the old g2Bridge:

So, no answer so far, but the problem soved itself.
JFusion made a new release with the adventurous name "JFusion 1.1.2 RC Patch Level 1 "
But nevertheless it works: You can see a sample here: http://www.swissphoto.eu
You get Jfusion here: http://www.jfusion.org/index.php/download?task=viewcategory&catid=1
It is a bit tricky to have it run but should not be too hard.
