Feature idea: The ability to assign more than one picture to an item file.

Usage: Display the chronological process of an artwork's development. This means that instead of having more than one picture in an album all having to do with the same artwork, but at different development stages, each picture would be assigned to one item file, not several.

Advantage: Tidier albums.

Example:

Note: The original Gallery2 image was borrowed from this site's screen shots. The images of the sculptures are by another artist.

Feedback welcome, please!

The carbon theme and its sisters/brothers have a similar view. It has the other items in the album on the right.
Slider theme as well would be suited to this.

Their view only shows items that are in the album--this is not what my suggestion is about. My suggestion is about having more than one picture assigned to one item, for a type of "art in progress" kind of display. Otherwise people would have transition pictures littering their albums. It is especially annoying for people who organize their album by date, but then update art at later times, scattering their artworks throughout the album.

If I have to spell this out, I will.

Album:

Madonna Painting ____________ Saints Painting _____________ Angels & Demons Painting
-1. canvas
-2. lighter colors
-3. shading
-4. deeper colors
-5. details
-6. touch-ups
-7. final result

All the different uploaded pictures of how the Madonna painting progressed would not show up in the album view, but only when you click on the Madonna Painting.

Yes, a person could create an album for every single one, but not only would that clutter up the album with more albums, but creates more clicks for the user, a big no-no to web design. This is a tidy method, and allows one to better organize their items.

Say you drew a picture, and later you touched it up digitally, and then later on added color. If your album is ordered by something other than manual order, and you drew other pictures in the meantime, those pictures are now spread out. You could add an album with all the art versions having to do with that one artwork, but not only is that messy, you'd have to situate it manually in the date order you wanted it with your other items, which then means ignoring albums that you wanted to show first off, and always first (like stickies).

I wonder if anyone can understand what I'm saying.

I understand what you are saying but I gave a suggestion and it was shot down.
I guess you can develop a module and a theme to do what you are after.

I'm confused, weren't you saying that that's how a theme can display the contents of an album?
