Hello there,
I've been taking a look at gallery2 files while uploading via FTP, and I've seen most of the bandwidth usage came from locale directories...
is it 100% safe to rip off the subdirectories of languages I don't need/want from the core/modules/themes directories?
I work with English, Spanish and French websites, so until now I would only need locale files for "en", "es", "fr" as my gallery is not configured to load languages from client's browser configuration...
for example the gallery\modules\core\locale total size is about 3 MB, if I delete what I don't need it drops down to about 300 KB... sounds fair, ain't it?

Bandwidth from visitors hitting the site or from FTP? I'm guessing you're talking about FTP.
Honestly this is why I only use hosts that have shell (SSH) access so I can download files directly onto the server and unpack them there. No need to FTP huge transfers to my website ;)
For the languages, I might also wait until 2.3 is released where it appears they've finally made languages modular so you can install/uninstall them from the Admin section. NOTE: I haven't dug into 2.3 at all yet, so I'm not 100% sure how that's structured.
If you want to take a look at it, 2.3 is in RC1 right now. However, I wouldn't upgrade your site to it just yet. I tried that and had to rollback due to some issues that other users are experiencing. I'd make a separate test install instead.

Again, I just haven't had any time to dig into why the upgrade failed.
