No image

OK, I have looked everywhere and cant find a solution to a common problem.

I have installed 2.2.4 on !J1.5.2
Installed the latest components and modules
copied the htaccess.txt to the joomla root and renamed it to .htaccess
The users are synced and everything seems to be working fine except the thumbs and images wont appear.

I have de-activated the URL rewrite in Gallery2

What have I missed, are there any setting I have not looked at?

If I right click on any of the images and copy the link url to a new browser the image appears.

please help?
