Cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path

Even after deactivating and re-activating WPG2 version 3.0.6, I still get this glaring red warning:

Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/memories/../var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

My WordPress version is 2.5.1 and my Gallery2 version is 2.2.4

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to this latest version. Do I need to make any permissions setting changes?

Thanks,
Leslie Kirk

I forgot to mention - I verified the path ../var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

is correct the wpg2imageblock.tpl is right there and I have manually tried to validate the path

../var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2 in the WPG2 Paths settings.

Leslie,

No your document path is a little too broad, I was afraid this would be the case on certain hosting firms.. -> ../var/www/vhosts/mydomain.com/httpdocs/ is not required..

Try ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2

Remember this translates to .. move up one directory, and change to /wp-content/plugins/wpg2 which would indicate your Gallery2 is in a subdirectory of your Wordpress

or try ../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

I am getting the exact same issue. I've tried several alternative ways of typing in the path, but it hasn't resolved anything.

Is the Gallery 2 directory _supposed_ to be inside the Wordpress one?

No, it works either way.. (Gallery2 being inside or outside your Wordpress Directory)

inside your wordpress your path will be -> ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2
Outside your path will be ../directory/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

directory being the directory wordpress is in..

Thank you! That got it going again. I used ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2 since my WP resides at the root level.

Never mind. I wasn't aware one had to add a ../ for every single folder away from the root (my gallery is within a "multimedia" folder which is within an "archival" folder).

Thanks,

I'm having a similar issue. I've had both running great for the last year, until I decided to upgrade wp to 2.5.1. I thought I deactivated WPG2 before I uploaded the new version...

My wordpress dir is crescibene.com/blog
Gallery 2 is in dir crescibene.com/images/gallery2

I know this is got to be simple but I can't resolve it...Any thoughts?

Wordpress 2.5.1 and Gallery2 3.0.6

Thanks in advance!!

It will be ../../blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

.. = go up a directory so you have to go up two directories to return to / then you are sweet :)

Have a similar problem. I would solve it but do not really know if the problem is the path or something else, maybe restrictions...

My gallery and blog run on two different subdomains:

For the gallery2 File Path I put
/var/www/vhosts/<my domain>/subdomains/pictures/httpdocs/

For the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path:
../../blog/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

while the file path is

/var/www/vhosts/<my domain>/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

I do not really get the failure that the path cannot be validated, but:

Fatal error: Class 'GalleryEmbed' not found in
/var/www/vhosts/<my domain>/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/wpg2embed.inc on line 42

Is it not possible two use the plugin over two subdomains, or what should I change?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I must have missed this post before.. That error is a different issue.. Your Gallery2 File Path appears to be incorrect which is why it cannot find "Fatal error: Class 'GalleryEmbed'"

Ozgreg - would appreciate your assistance also.

my wordpress url is word.scottbsgallery.com
my gallery url is g2.scottbsgallery.com

the error given is Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path, while running Wordpress 2.5.1, & trying to validate wpg2 3.0.6.

thanks in advance!

UPDATE: - nutted it out! Thanks anyway.

Hi,

I am having the same problem - Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path

I have tried putting in both of these paths into the box that says Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path

../../blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

and

../wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

but it doesn't seem to help

my wordpress is installed at mydomain/blog
my wordpress wp2 is installed at public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins
my Gallery2 is installed in the same plugins directory /public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins

I would appreciate any help

thanks

well I managed to *jag* it - turns out I had to put in

../../../../blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

and that worked

just in case anyone else comes across the thing ;)

My Gallery2 is at http://www.racepics.net.nz
My blog is at http://blog.racepics.net.nz

My errors:
Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/racepics/domains/racepics.net.nz/public_html/../home/racepics/domains/blog.racepics.net.nz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

Gallery2 URL: http://www.racepics.net.nz/
Gallery2 File Path: /home/racepics/domains/racepics.net.nz/public_html/
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../home/racepics/domains/blog.racepics.net.nz/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

Tried replacing /home/racepics/domains/ with /../../.. but no luck yet
Do you replace on both file path and relative path??

It seems i have the same problem. I tried the solutions above, but I cant get it to work.

my gallery adress is <mydomain/Gallery2>,
blog's <blog.mydomain>

gallery file path is : ../home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain/httpdocs/Gallery2/
relative would be (if I'm not mistaken, wich is more than a probability) :../home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

result with the above entries is :

Quote:
Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path ../home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain/httpdocs/Gallery2/../home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

I've tried to replace "../home/httpd/vhosts/mydomain/subdomains/blog/httpdocs/blog/wp-content/" (or parts of it) with "../", without results.

a bit of help would be appreciated.

thanks for having a look ;)

i tried, it didn't work:

any other idea ?

from what i caught of the above explanations, the paths would be too long.
but every time i try to shorten it, the error remains.

Sorry Cantdothis,

As I cannot see your server, I can only guess what the relative path would be, only you or your hosting firm can provide you with the actual path..

After my provider has migrated my website, everything went wrong...

I had a beautiful integration between wordpress and gallery2 via the v3slider theme but I can't even modify the options anymore (always number 1 inserted).

So I decided to upload a fresh wpg2...

I have the same problem with the paths now...

My wordpress file are installed immediately under public_html (no wordpress subdirectory)
My gallery2 url is: http://d-eye.be/gallery2/
My gallery2 file path: /home/users/web/b1361/ipw.d-eyebea/public_html/gallery2
My gallery2 to wpg2 relative path: ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2

I tried different options for the last one but nothing seems to work. Any thoughts?

OK. This one solved: I've put /../wp-content/plugins/wpg2 (leading slash did the trick)

After upgrading WP to 2.6 and upgrading wpg2 plugin to 3.07 and resetting wpg2 paths I still get a blank page when clicking on the folder tree widget or an embedded thumbnail.
The only error I have in the whole wpg2 setup is Rewrite Validation Check: Failed
I do not use non-standard permalinks in wp does wpg2 require a non standard permalink setting?
I notice the blank page I get when trying to access the images has a very strange URL like this
http://blog.racepics.net.nz/?page_id=100&g2_itemId=62193&g2_GALLERYSID=TMP_SESSION_ID_DI_NOISSES_PMT

any ideas?

I have fixed the weird URL's with info from http://codex.gallery2.org/Integration:WPG2_FAQ
But although WPG2 plugin states that everything is fine, I still get (http 500 Internal Server Error) when trying to view my Gallery from Wordpress..

[edit] scratch that - the weird urls are back even with the fixes list above..

sounds like your server memory_limit is too low

Can you confirm what it is set at ?
You may also like to intall and run the BETV plugin to check for errors

I am running apparently into the same problem.
Gallery: 2.2.5
WP: 2.6
WPG: 3.0.7

gallery is at: http://www.mydomain.com/fotos
WP: http://www.mydomain.com/blog

Gallery2 File Path: /homepages/14/xxxx/htdocs/sites/mydomain/fotos
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/

error: Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /homepages/14/xxxxxx/htdocs/sites/mydomain/fotos../blog/wp-content/plugins/wpg2//templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

When I add a / at the end of the file path, I get a blank page below the main MWP menu (which is still visible).
When I add a / before the relative path, I don't get error, but the validation check still says "failed":

Quote:
1. Wordpress Compatible? - [ Success]
2. URI to Gallery2 Ok? - [Success]
3. Gallery2 can be located in G2 File Path? - [Failed]

Thanks.

Ok I have noticed how others have had their problems fixed but I just can't seem to figure mine out. I'm getting this error...

Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/username/public_html/gallery/gallery2/../home/username/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

Ive tried combinations like the others but none worked for me, what the hell am I dong wrong? This is getting real annoying.

My wordpress version is 2.6.1
My Gallery version is 2.2.5

Leslie, Thanks for the direction. It worked.

DWRZ, in my case I had Gallery in a different subdirectory and had to hop up two to get to it.

../../wp-content worked.

No Error...but no validation page content!!! Help!

Been running into blank WPG2 validation page as well as 500 server errors. Reinstall and piecemeal installation of plugins and themes (i.e. Tien is no good for G2...but who knew?) seems to have solved the 500 server errors, but I cannot solve the WPG2 blank validation page for the WP plugin.

(WPG2 Paths tab works fine, but nothing else works due to lack of validation). Server context: host- 1and1.com; WP installed in default (home) level, gallery2 is one level down (same level as wp-content). WP install 2.6.1; WPG2 3.0.7 (other plugins active - WP AutoUpgrade; Cforms; Simple-Forum; Event Calendar & Widget)

Have tried php.ini file suggested by pianoman and the .htaccess fix suggested here.

View of source code on failed page: source ends with: "<div id="wpbody">", not </div>, </body> or </html>

Tell me what else I can supply to help diagnose this. I'm lost, confused, bewildered and frustrated. I've had to unplug WPG2 from another existing site due to same issue. Thanks is advance for any insights or suggestions.

Hi all,

I've completely lost the will to live on this one. My relative path validation piece for WG2 is simply refusing to work. For some reason, any combination of entries I make return the error ..

file /home/modonovan/~modonovan/gallery2/embed.php does not exist

Now my gallery like many in the examples about is in my public_html folder and simply called gallery2 (so the absolute path would be /home/modonovan/public_html/gallery2). In this folder is a embed.php file as below which the error reports is not there and it would appear that my permissions are set correctly...

-rw-r--r-- 1 modonovan users 2684 2006-12-20 00:24 embed.php

The absolute path of my wordpress install is /home/modonovan/public_html/wordpress - keep it simple so as to try and get it working.

The url of my site is http://www.mydomain.com/~modonovan/gallery2 for gallery and ~/modonovan/wordpress for wordpress.

With all this in mind I have completed the WG2 path form as follows:

Gallery2 URL: = http://www.mydomain.com/~modonovan/gallery2/main.php (have tried with main.php and with trailing /)
Gallery2 URL: = as above
Gallery2 File Path: have tried all of, ~/gallery2 ~/gallery2/ /gallery2 gallery2/ /gallery2/ /home/modonovan/public_html/gallery2 /home/modonovan/public_html/gallery2/

Each time the same error is returned when I try to validate it. I've also tried a number of times deactivating and reactivating the plugin to no avail.

Can some please point what is probably my glaringly obvious mistake? Is there something wrong with my wordpress or gallery2 path's as standalone applications?

Thanks in advance,

MickoD

Have spent hours trying to get wpg2 configured. very very frustrated. i too have this same problem. i've read numerous posts and can't resolve it.
here's my info: gallery url: http://highfxtest.com/wp-content/plugins/gallery2/.
gallery2 file path: /homepages/32/d248266722/htdocs/highfxtest/wp-content/plugins/gallery2/.
relative path manually set to: ../wpg2; ../../../wp-content/plugins/wpg2; and many other variations. wpg2 saves this path but i still get the message that it's not validated.
any help identifying the correct relative path would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Hey WANKUS, you are a LIFE SAVER!! Your post WORKED! I would advice all of the people posting their problem try your solution i.e. ../../../var/www/wp-content/plugins/wpg2 of course adjust to whatever their own paths are...

Thanks.

WP 2.7
WPG2 3.07

None of these options have worked for me. This worked fine until I upgraded to WP 2.7. I have tried all kinds of combinations of paths and I can get the validation to work, but the random photo block blows up with "can't find templates..." errors. Gotta be a path issue of some sort. I don't even want the darn blocks. Can I just shut them off somehow?

None of these have helped. I get the blank screen problem with "you must validate" error when I click on anything.

This is a new install on 1&1 servers for me, Gallery 2.3 and the WordPress 2.7.1. Gallery2 is working.

On the WPG2 block on the left, under WPG2 Paths I receive errors at first (my web directory is such that the /gallery2 and /WordPress are off the root directory of my webspace and each accessed via a different sub-domain pointing to their respective directory. I keep entering estimated values in the field until I receive no more errors when I SAVE CHANGES and return to the WPG2Paths option. I never get anything under the WPG2 option.
Notes:

(1and1.com)
<my architecture:>
/ (root of my hosting account)
/gallery2
/WordPress

My WPG2 settings:

Gallery2 URL: gallery.mydomain.net
Gallery2 File Path: /homepages/43/d1618xxxxx/htdocs/gallery2/
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../WordPress/wp-content/plugins/wpg2
On Gallery Error Redirect to: http://mydomain.net/wp-login.php

This is my final entry after which I press SAVE CHANGES and once I save these changes, the screen disappears. Under the top option of the WPG2 block, when I click on WPG2 I get a blank screen, when I click on WPG2 Paths I see these settings with no errors, when I click on any of the other options it says that WPG2 is not validated yet.

I have a lot of hobbies and that's good because I use the rule of thumb to work with all my capacity on something for a couple of weeks before either giving up or completing it. I hit a dead end on this one, and just gave up on it. It seems that the law of probablity would dictate at least a handfull of people would subscribe to 1and1 and be using Wordpress with Gallery2, but on the other hand, maybe once they got it working they are so exhausted they don't feel up to helping anyone else. I have run into that myself.

I am just speculating. There is also the possibility that maybe 1and1's business model doesn't like supporting these new types of "strap on packages" that take up a lot of space and resources (more than the past normal, simple business-card HTML hung-out "shingle"). Come to think of it, these new applications are becoming frightenly easy for the less-than-expert user to install and set up (recently I even scared myself when I was partially successfull at it). Just speculating but perhaps it's a good way to discourage installation of these, that is, add some quirk to the system to keep it from working right.

I don't know and I am only speculating, but the short answer to your question is "I gave up". (The older I get the more easy it is to say that ;-), e.g. it's not such a bad idea any longer.)

Have you ever tried to install an older version of Wordpress to see if that helps at all? I am thinking of giving it a try but thought I would see if this is something you have already done. Thanks in advance!

I tried the development version of WPG2 and got the same results, with a slight twist. This time there was a button that appeared on the WPG2 Paths option that said Validate. The development version "guessed" every one of the file paths correctly except the first, the URL of the Gallery2 (reasonable, since it was subdomain.domain.com). I entered the path then pressed the "Validate" button on "WPG2 Paths" screen and then both the "WPG2 Paths" screen went blank as well as the "WPG2" screen. It apparently really didn't validate (I got no message yea/nea.) Like before all the other options under the blank screen "WPG2" and "WPG2 Paths" (Gallery2 Rewrites, WPG2 Output, WPG2 Tags, etc.) displayed the error message that they were not available until the WPG2 Plugin is Validated.

So the short answer is no, I have not gone to a back level of WordPress yet; only tested current and development version of WPG2 Plug-in. If you want to test going backlevel with Wordpress, I will start testing back levels of WPG2. I can't begin until early next week, however.

I am having the same problem! WPG2 was workign fine until today! My website just got transfered to a new hosting company (the old host sold to a new host) and apparently the paths are differnt now. I have set the paths to the new values but still get a blank validation page. Have tried deactivating and reactivating WPG2 but doesn't help. thanks for any help

Gallery 2 url: http://www.spfarm.com/gallery2/
Gallery2 file path: /hermes/bosweb/web255/b2550/ywh.spfarmco21/gallery2/
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../wp/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

we're running a multi user gallery2 on one virtual webhost and our customer's word/buddypress on another. paths look like ...

G2: /home/gallery/public_html/<customer>
WP: /home/<customer>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

I was able to validate the Gallery2 File Path: /home/<customer>/public_html/<customer>/ fiddling with /etc/group and symbolic links, but I can't get the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path right.

My settings:

Gallery2 URL: http://gallery.<domain>.be/<customer>/
Gallery2 File Path: /home/<customer>/public_html/<customer>/ (*)
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../../../<customer>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2

(*) note: this last directory is a symlink to /home/gallery/public_html/<customer>

Results in:

Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/<customer>/public_html/<customer>/../../../<customer>/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

When I try ...

Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../wp-content/plugins/wpg2

This results in:

Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/bunker/public_html/bunker/../wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

Is it possible to get G2 and WPMU + WPG2 working when they reside in two different root folders anyway?

Can anyone help me?

Here is my situation:
I am running:
WP: 2.8.4
G2: 2.3
WPG2: 3.0.7

I have successfully installed G2 at photos.thejourneyler.org/g2
I have successfully installed wordpress at pro.thejourneyler.org/wordpress/
As I understand WPG2 to work, I should be able "pull"/"embed" galleries from photos.thejourneyler.org to embeded wordpress pages at pro.thejourneyler.org

This is the error I get:

Validation Error: WPG2 plugin cannot validate the Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path /home/<username>/photos.thejourneyler.org/g2/
../../home/<username>/pro.thejourneyler.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpg2/templates/wpg2imageblock.tpl

Here are my settings:
Gallery2 URL: http://photos.thejourneyler.org/g2/
URL to WPG2 Output: Set automatically.
Gallery2 File Path: /home/<username>/photos.thejourneyler.org/g2/
Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path: ../../home/<username>/pro.thejourneyler.org/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wpg2
On Gallery Error Redirect to: <I don't think this is relivant>

I have tried several combinations of "../" and "/../" and "../../" as you can tell from my Gallery2 to WPG2 Relative Path setting I have added "../.." before the default "/home/..." I have tried only modifying the relative path. nothing seems to work... What am I missing?

If you have any clues to how I should set the relative path setting so that it validates I would appreciate them.

I am tried everything On this forum and everything that I can think of. I think I have figured the problem but have no idea on how to fix it. I have found that the /var/www/gallery2 will not go up a directory when you do the ../I actually get the /var/www/gallery2/../wordpress/(etc). How can I get it to drop back a directory?

That is the problem can anyone help?
