I have Gallery 2 (2.2 or 2.2.4, I can't remember which, and can't check at the moment) running on my Linux webserver at home (Ubuntu with Apache2, PHP5, and MySQL) and I'd like to find a way to automatically add files that are copied to the webserver box via Samba. This way I could download photos from my camera on my laptop to the Samba share, and then Gallery (or some script) would scan the directory where I store the pictures and add any new folders/photos to the Gallery database. Adding captions/descriptions/tags isn't necessary from the script. I can do that later after they've been added to the site. I'd just like a simpler method than having to download the files and then manually add them to my server.
I have my music shared over my home network with Firefly Media Server on the same system that has Gallery installed, and all I have to do to add music is copy the files through Samba, and then Firefly scans periodically to add new music. I'd just like Gallery to be able to do the same with my photos.
I'm not overly familiar with programming or databases, so I really have no clue where to start to do this myself. Can anyone on here help me out?
